Software suites, such as the Nokia Software Recovery Tool are nowadays redundant at best.
Android offers a full recovery mode, accessible from the phone's hidden startup menu.

Please see the following link for detailed instructions:

    http://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-5/

This should apply for Nokia 3, 6 and 8 also, as the button commands are very common for Android phones.

It matters for most. Xiaomi, Samsung, Lg, OnePlus still provides their tools.
It helps to recover for anyone.

Just connect the device, tool automatically recognize Nokia phones and ability to flash.

( Also an abiluty to flash other country rom onto same model via tool ).

    - You don't care. We do care, we are spending money on Nokia and we are suggesting what we need.

( Old Nokia - Nokia Software Recovery Tool, Nokia retail tool, Nokia device tool all for consumers for ease at home. ) Even for naive.

Even people face problems like ext4, f2fs, or bootloop, many more problems.

( In OnePlus, we just connect our phone on OnePlus msm tool and it flashes latest or retail whatever rom we select).

No need to watch anything on YouTube or etc, kust plug device and your device will be like out of the box
  • I am facing problem with charging and hanging from the date of purchase. After buying nokia 3 it requires update of 135mb then after updating a message flash that facebook is not responding and same as other apps is not responding. When i plug in for charge it automatically switch off and after that when i hold power button then it works. This action perform 2 times from the date of purchase of nokia 3. Plz give me the relevant answer. I am very upset with nokia 3 comeback performance.

Rather than a full suit, we, first of all, need downloadable ROMs. So that the customers can flash their phones (via Recovery) themselves rather than visiting a service point.

  • im glad with the Nokia 6 thank you
  • and i will be more glad if you build waterproof phone in future.

    Thank you

Software recovery tools have been a staple at Nokia since Symbian days, not only device owners can self help their devices but it lowers customer service requests and prioritizes attention to those who really need support.

Sony have Xperia Companion, which helps really if your phone stuck at bootloop or you have some serious problems.

Through Xperia Companion there is ´Software Repair´ option which helps about the problems I mentioned above.

So, Nokia needs to bring back NSRT

The best in call phones I had was all Nokia phones; I am pretty sure that the new Nokia android devices will offer us the same experience of high quality,so the NRT will not be needed for no one of us.
Btw, until now my New Nokia confirms that!

Hard reset or factory reset cannot be compared with the old fashion Nokia programs like Nokia Suite. To the best of my knowledge only account and other personal (installed) data are removed. The software/firmware as a whole remains untouched. That software is not visible on the PC and the size is about 3 GB. When HMD in their "wishdom" does not give their customers the tools to really flash the firmware, it will be a deal breaker for me. I planned to buy a Nokia 8 or may be 9, but I rather wait and see.

  • That's a nice idea but here is a quick solution to perform the same task.

    :)

  • Hi shaanhaider, the procedure shown on YouTube is not flashing the firmware, but is just deleting the account data of the customer and the data installed by the customer. Problems with the firmware cannot be solved by the customer. He or she is forced to seek help from HMD or the shop, where the Nokia has been bought. If the shop has the knowledge and/or the equipment the customer is lucky.

I am sure Nokia try to protect the consumers and their quality brand from things like this :(please read all in this link):

    All the best !

  • Hi user625, Any alteration in the firmware of a PC or a cell phone can end up in a disaster. Knowledge about the right procedure and the use of reliable tools and software is absolutely necessary. If you don't know the source of the tools and software or there is no experience with the products of the unknown source don't take the risk. I have a Nokia 6 and the data I have loaded the internal memory of my phone with is about 6.63 GB. The total amount of data on my Phone is 9.1 GB. So about 2.5 GB contain data, which is mainly not visible on my PC, and of course the also invisible firmware. ROMS with the size of 1.5 - 2 GB are quite normal. What is the most reliable source of ROMS and flashtools in our case? HMD Global!!! In the Nokia era of Symbian 3, Anne and Belle all the ROMS were available and free to use. I never have had any problems using them. The best protection HMD Global can offer, is to make the TA ROMS and flashtools available. However, the actual policy of HMD in the case of flashing is very restricted. Yesterday I requested HMD to flash my Chinese TA-1000 Nokia 6 with the original  stock TA-1000 ROM. HMD refused. I don't want to blame HMD for the wrong decision I made, buying the Phone in the first place, What hurts is that my favorite Phone manufacturer let me down, while HMD must have the means and the capability. Now I have to figure it out myself and I will.

Hi mobilaris_1,Thank you for making the point on NSRT and I totally agree with you !

My best experience on that matter,as a customer, was with Xperia from Sony: Always I had the Original Tools and Original firmwares ,so I had the feeling that no matter what hapen to my phone I was always capable to make a software repair. It's the feeling that You are the Owner of a product you buyed with your money and you fully enjoy using it.Thank you again, hoping for the best !

Hi user341, the Nokia 6 model TA-1000 is originally for the PRC (Chinese) market and in the PRC Google services are not allowed. HMD has never made a Nokia 6 TA-1000 with Google services. If a Nokia 6 TA-1000 nevertheless has Google services that Nokia 6 has a modified software/firmware, making the Phone a so called custom Phone and customized phones will not receive updates. I'm sorry. In order to prevent Chinese customers from flashing their phones with software, which contains Google services, HMD has made the bootloader locked, which cannot be unlocked without the proper software. Any HMD (Nokia) Phone has that non-unlockable bootloader, because these phones are partly already prepared for the PRC market. The reseller of your Nokia 6 TA-1000 has found a trick to load the software with Google services and multi languages. How? I don't know. Now it is easy to understand, why we will never find flash tools and firmware or Roms on the internet. We are treated just like the Chinese customers. HMD forbids us to flash our phones regardless the (Nokia) model. The only advise I have, is to return your Phone to the reseller and ask your money back, if you are protected by legal customers provisions.
