There has been significant media coverage of Google Chrome's new ad filtering feature. It will default to blocking the most obnoxious or annoying ads, while leaving more reasonable sites alone.
It took moderate effort to determine the current availability of this feature, so I'm sharing this here.
It is currently not included in stable Chrome (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.chrome
) or Chrome Beta (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chrome.beta
). It can be found in Chrome Dev (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chrome.dev
), for those who would like early access to the feature. You can check if your version of Chrome has the feature by looking for an "Ads" option within the "Site settings" options.
for descriptions of the different release channels.
