  • Let us know how it is working for you all. Does it have widevine L1?
  • You bumped every topic lol.

Nothing for me yet. Will capture OTA as soon as I can, but no doubt when the UK rollout happens everyone will have it anyway.

Will defer to other camera pros for professional opinions here. I mostly use auto mode in mobile, rarely use the "pro" mode. So far, don't see much change. It was good before for me, and looks untouched.

    1. Adaptive Battery - charging will take a while to settle down. After a night's charge (connected to Nokia charger - the one that came with Sirocco) at 6:30 am it showed 94% charged. Yes I had fiddled with Wind down end time in between, so I will watch this for a few days, and report back.

    2. As usual in other Pie phones, "Total Silence" as an option dropdown in individual Rule in DND is gone. Sony created Xperia Actions where you could create your own rules with a "airplane mode" facility. Didn't see anything similar like that here. So to implement "Total Silence" without altering DND settings for all rules, we need to do it manually, I guess.

I also received the update here in Taiwan.
One thing I found is that they've made the touch vibration feedback a bit stronger. I prefer the subtler one on 8.1 though.

Good thing I didn't see any animation bug so far. And all the new pie stuffs is there.

Well it's a bit delayed but I'll count as they kept their promise.
  • Downloading PIE on my sirocco.. very excited after long long waiting. Its V4.120. so i guess they have updated 4 versions of nokia's version of PIE. i hope lot of bugs might have been fixed..

I just couldn't wait for the update anymore. So I forced the update on mine.

    1. I switched off my phone pulled out my Sim Card.
    2. Then I went to recovery mode and factory resetted the phone.
    3. Then after booting I turned off the Location in the settings.
    4. After that I installed a VPN from the play store and switched to India as Region.
    5. Then I tapped on the System Update.
    6. Now, I'm downloading the Update.

I saw this method somewhere on reddit so I decided to try and it worked for me. :)

  • Can not belive HMD/Nokia did not make an announcement normally they are so big on accurate up to date announcements to keep their customers informed. Probably means UK will not get it for many days.
  • I've got the OTA and as I'm bootloader unlocked I'll provide a link for it once its uploaded to mega.

@dipankar paul shame that Wilson had to resort to these measures though.

@dipankar paul I just point it out in the hope that you can remind your colleagues in charge of this that sometimes people can get frustrated and do things that they probably don't expect. @wilson shrestha obviously knew the risks when doing the factory reset but wanted to get the update. The most unexpected thing is that he had to use a VPN to spoof his location to India to get the update.
  • @madbilly I absolutely understand your sentiment, and get where you're coming from. Wilson (or anyone else) shouldn't have to take drastic measures to get something that is rightfully theirs. We're learning, and we'll get better at making sure these situations don't come to pass. :)

@dipankar paul that's great, thanks for writing that
  • Hello!
I was to exchange, yesterday, my Nokia 8 Sirocco for dissatisfaction - lack of updates ...
Because in the rest ... I love this equipment: size, design, specs (in this last I only point to the processor ... Could have opted for the SD 845, would be more updated in the future, because this year the SD 835 makes two years. Although in my daily use does not compromise on battery consumption or overall performance.

But on Wednesday as I follow Mr. Juho Sarvikas on Twitter, I saw is post and decided not to return my Nokia 8 Sirocco and wait for the update for Android Pie ...
He did not leave, yet, in Portugal. I have to be patient! I hope it was an isolated delay and that in the next updates have more attention to this, and i repeat, for me, spectacular equipment!

    Best regards,
    Mário
  • I got the update since january 9th.
Since then, i have problems with my batterie that discharges very fast! Before the update the batterie lasted for 1,5-2 days but now it lasts 1 day. In fact, (after having charged the phone over the night), a few hours later only about 70% battery available. In the evening i used to have about 60% but now only about 35%.

Probably you have to perform a full setback. Usually if you update to a whole version of android it is advertised to do a full setback. Otherwise it could lead to problems like you do.
  • Don't have the Pie firmware either thinking of following Wilson's example and force updating my Sirocco too. Would really like to know if my update has not been released by my carrier because if I had the proof it's my carrier you can bet your life on it the Eclo of vodacom's Mobile would ring after I sent her a email in a few minutes then a email to the Ceo's secretary. And then a compalint with icasa.

Has anyone from the UK got the Sorocco Pie update yet - I'm getting a bit fed up with checking the system update

Just install it with the file I posted. It's the exact same as the OTA you're waiting on.
