    The new update is not so good. I doubt the use of pro mode if it is not going to use monochrome sensor. Settings like shutter time, iso should have immediate effect in viewfinder image, otherwise its not pro mode, but rather ultra pro mode.. lol.. tbh pro mode is nothing more than a gimmick as of now, if you have6 got the update, trust me you aren't missing anything. Infact I feel battery draining fast with latest update.

    In general, from the beginning, focus is the main pain area. I don't see option to lock focus and exposure, be it photo or video mode. Because of that it will keep on refocusing in video all the time, what nonsense

    I also dont like the idea of not utilising available space for shutter button. I find the shutter button too small, wonder why i has to be round in shape, why can't it be rectangular so that it can be made bigger.

    Hi all,

    Sorry I have been quiet so far. Thanks for all your feedback, insights and experience  you have with the camera now. I will pass your feedback on.

    For all who are still waiting for the update, It is going out in waves (like always) so you might still have to wait a bit. Sorry for that

    Best regards,

    Laura

    @Laura,

    A public change-log or a detailed user manual / white paper regarding the camera app would be useful.
    - I miss the level indicator, but there is now audio in slow-motion videos, is the guesswork regarding electronic stabilization in videos correct (and is that a deliberate change or a mistake?), etc.

    I can go on regarding missing features, or big and small app errors, but it would be more practical if the team handed a Nokia 8 to an in-house nerd and let her use the camera for a couple of days.
    - Also try ask a volunteer create a custom watermark that says Vacation In Paris and see how long it takes ;-)

    The camera app is 'good enough' for my everyday use during the summer.

    Regarding stability, the camera app lost access to the hardware 1 time, requiring a phone restart. There is so far 3 pictures incompletely saved (just a narrow strip at the top, the rest grey). This has never happened for me in the old HMD app.
    (The old app could crash, rarely, but it would only lose what it was doing, and never needed a restart of the phone to get going again).

    Then there is the user interface, with the grid and the Pro control elements too small for a Hi-DPI screen and not designed for horizontal use. I even had to rotate the screenshot below since it was recorded sideways for some reason.

    Best regards,
    Hans

    deadsouls88:
    1. Do you have the same carrier?
    2. Do you have the same model? (for example TA-1012)

    If yes, then its totally random distribution, which I doubt.
  • I feel a problem about focus camera and the video (time lapse and slow motion) please fix the bug system... Thanks :))

    Lets face it,

    in comparison with other mid-range phones Nokia has the worst Camera ever.

    And there is no App that will  make this better.

    Noise and Sharpness, especially in low light are crap. Its a Hardware Problem (Sensor, Lenses) and not a Software Problem.

  • When will the update be in Poland ?

    @satish Kumar. Yes got update in India.

    Dear Laura,

    Camera Performance is still disappointed considering Nokia 8 price. OIS doesn't work well in video recording... hopefully enabling EIS can fix issue. Focus is still bad though having laser autofocus...Picture quality is very soft. No 60FPS at 1080p. Live bokeh is laggy. Software update didn't make much difference apart from camera UI change and adding Pro Mode...Hopefully we can expect few more updates related to camera Performance soon.
  • @jibs1987.still didn't receive update.

    Please do copy google camera app, we just want quality like that,in nokia camera exposure are bit high, and slow in focusing and need EIS for front camera if you still like to give extra bumpers means just combine the EIS with OIS as OnePlus 6 . You people copy or do anything but please give us some features like 2018

    All of this looks like a huge beta test... I do not understand why this update wasn't released under the beta labs program first. It would have made sense and would have let people know what to expect. Going straight for final release greatly damaged the image of Nokia, in my opinion.

    @LennartB,

    Regarding the audio 'tics' in videos, on closer inspection some of my old recordings have the same.

    After further testing my guess is a thermal issue = mechanical parts inside the phone moving around as the components warm up. The microphones are very sensitive to both audio and mechanical disturbance.

    It feels like beta test because IT is. We are the beta testers right now for their future camera app.

    You think they are doing this to please people who bought Nokia 8?

    I dont want to bash Nokia, I like the brand and the fact they are actually trying. But you need to realize that they started 1 year ago and they need to perfect their camera app so the reviews for future phones are good and customers are satisfied.

    Hopefully they will listen to all feedback because everything that need to be said was said already.
  • Please add App Shortcuts to the Camera app. 3 shortcuts should to the trick (Main, Front and Bothie). Thank you! Keep up the good work HMD / Nokia.

    Dear family members, those who are not satisfied with camera kindly post your comments under juho sarvikas tweets. Hence posting our problems in this Nokia forum won't solve.... If we post under juho tweets it will definitely solve because those comments will read every one all over the world Which is prestigious issue for a company, then it will definitely show bad impact on Nokia sales, hence HMD Nokia will seriously pay attention to Nokia 8 customers to give us best camera....do you remember just few weeks back juho said that's they are working long time for Nokia 8 pro camera, it's completely false because if he seriously work on Nokia 8 camera then we see great results today, their just change camera UI..... ignore focus, quality and sharpness...what ever it's nearly 9 months still we didn't get best camera only because of neglecting our problems and focus on upcoming models.....

    Just target juho sarvikas Twitter account 100% he will come down to earth and pay attention on Nokia 8 customers

    I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to switch from picture mode to video. There are two dots at the bottom of the screen implying horizontally scrollable panels. Turns out you just can't swipe anywhere near the dots.

    @user1519580947965 (and other who don't know)

    Just swipe in the middle of your screen Works for me.
  • What is that icon with the Stars supposed to be? (The first one from the left)

    I tried a version from apk-Mirror since I did not yet receive the update

    @user1512184697340,
    This thread is started by a moderator specifically to get feedback and get issues fixed.
    I don't see how you think stalking Juho on Twitter is productive when we have this thread to collect all issues. We'll just have to report here and wait and see.

    Until recently this thread has been a mostly constructive (though also frustrating) source of useful feedback for Laura/Nokia and 3 days ago she said "Thanks for all your feedback, insights and experience  you have with the camera now. I will pass your feedback on."

    So please be realistic, she can't make specific promises, nor magically fix the app overnight, and getting angry/aggressive about the situation - e.g. by trying to embarrass the CEO on Twitter is unlikely to help things.

    That said, it does concern me that Laura's post doesn't seem to acknowledge the high level of dissatisfaction that some of us are experiencing, and I would like to see her respond again, ideally along the following lines:

    1) to stop the rollout of the firmware immediately as it's clearly NOT ready for prime time

    2) to give advice (to those who wish they hadn't installed the firmware) on how to roll back OR to make the old camera app available to be installed over the top so that nobody is worse off than they were before

    3) to reassure us that revisions to the camera app will be tested much more thoroughly before being released to us, ideally by using the beta testing channels that exist and issuing a changelog for each release so that we will know exactly what issues have been fixed, which will help us all manage our expectations and provide more useful feedback

    @lennart, everyone speaking from many many months finally what we get...? Forum just read by Nokia customer's Twitter read by world wide...if Nokia user's complaining they issues, it's shows bad impact on product selling...hence Nokia will come down definitely to fix the issues with best results....
