i updated too Kushal, there seems to be a small improvement, as there was when I initially followed your suggestions. However the improvement seems small and by now I am pretty sure it will again slip back to quick draining. A problem is either fixed or not fixed. Now they only tamper with the problem to give small satisfaction and play with us. My Nokia 5 is 1 year old, still in it's initial 2 year guarantee. Well HMD, definitely cannot be trusted in my future phone choice
Exactly same experiance after the Feb patching, I don't think NOKIA will fix gifted issue(All know why), HMD you will never be my 1st choice in my future phone selection
  • Nokia made this pages for extra money....nothino else
Bro no, Its not Nokia page, I'm honestly writing my experience so that it can help other :)

Waited for Feb update, which didn't help, so I don't think Nokia will ever fix this, u know why now!!! rite?
  • May anyone check one thing? Try to disable the auto timezone feature in the data and time settings. There was one old (last year) message, that it fixed almost same issue for the Pixel phone.

    Let me give a try
  • Unfortunately my idea about auto time zone is useless. Tested it. Nothing new. :(
  • Go to recovery via Vol+ and power key and clear system cache. It helped me

No it didn't help me, battery drain rate is still same
  • I found that desactivate Google app, the drain is less or none.
Every new system is plagued with more and more services that wake the phone a lot.
Just try and leave your comments.
    Thank you

Find Device Health Services  app, clear it's cache and data. Then restart your phone and let it sort itself out.  Took mine a few days but battery is fine now. Just as good as Oreo and overall performance is better.

From few days, I observe that battery life in Nokia 5 has got better, though there are many SW flaws in showing battery usage stats, still battery life has improved.

Lets hope March patch will fix all issue(including major Microphone issue)

I tried this for my Nokia 6 but didn't work.  Since pie update I've referred to the community and followed fixes for about 6 faults that arose.  Was hoping this would work too.  Do you happen to have any other ideas for this other model?  Thanks!
  • Sorry for the unrelated comment because I don't know how to start my own thread but anyone here knows what is the "TestApp5G" app? I saw it under Developer Options->Memory Used by Apps. Just curious because it is one of the app consuming memory in my Nokia 5.

And another thing. Is anyone here installed "Naptime" app but cannot make it work in Nokia 5? After I let my phone idle for a few hours then when I check my phone again Naptime is not running in the background. My Naptime is ignored in battery optimization list and also under adaptive battery it is not restricted. Can anyone help? Thank you so much.

this fix not work to me.
this was a very good phone until latest update... after pie i need charge battery twice or tree times of week. before update i charged it once every Sunday and have 30-40% in reserve, now on 4-th day i have less than 20% (i used the phone only for speaking up to 10-20 min for week and not use it to play or use internet, only in battery saving mode, because i hate vibration on keys)... google and hmd global fuc*ed own users and customers with this update... maybe because the phone is almost 2 years, they want to kill the battery and costumers to buy a new phone.

When Developer options is activated, the "Background process limit " and "Don't keep activity" are set to "Standard" and "off" respectively by default, please don't change this.

And let all other options be turned off that are turned on by default when developer mode is activated.

    Simple rite?

    Hi,

thank you for taking the time to provide this suggested solution. I went through the steps one by one, however, none of them provides a good permanent solution.

Step 1 might do something, but keeping battery saver on permanently isn't really a solution for many of us.
Step 2 alone does not change battery drain.
Steps 3-4 are already the default settings.
Step 5 does nothing to battery drain.
Step 6 actually works for a while, but within a day or two, battery drain returns.

Since reboot works temporarily, I'm lead to believe that some service or background process over time gets confused and starts consuming battery life. Unfortunately I haven't yet been able to pinpoint what this service is.

Is the Nokia under warranty? If so, return it to tech service until they give you the money back!!!
  • Guys, the problem seems to be connected to particular Google accounts. My father has Nokia 5 @ Pie with no such problems, but I experience the same constant drain as you do. The phone never makes it over 2 days now even with little usage while the major cause seems to be Google Play Services which can get even to 25 % of battery usage. With Oreo, I could easily get over 3 days, sometimes even 4 or slightly more.

Anyway: I tried factory reset, wiping cache partition, safe mode: nothing helped. Then I checked battery usage using Wakelock Detector LITE and found that the phone NEVER goes to deep sleep with this drain. Today I tried deleting all Google Play Services data, left the phone alone for about an hour, checked the Wakelock Detector again and VIOLÀ! The phone was in deep sleep for 55 out of 60 minutes. The problem is that my data is not backed up right now, so it's definitely not the final solution… I will post again when I find anything else.
  • This guy is funny af.
Do you really advise us to freaking turn off all the settings (step 4)? Do you really think that turning on "battery saving mode" is an actual advice to extend battery life?
In case ur st00pid or just don't know what does "FIX" actually mean, I will explain ya:
If you wanna fix something, you need to solve the problem that causes "fast battery drain" but not to restrict the animation and stuff like so.

Mr. Geniusssssss , the solution proposed here has 100% improved the battery life, which many people already have agreed following the given steps.

Ur so called Fix has to come from Nokia, which users are waiting for >2 months.

I already threw my phone to bin and got a new redmi.

So Mr. Geniusssssss keep waiting for fix, let me know when u get one

    Hello

Sorry you are upset.  Can you explain what you mean by battery drain?  What is your screen on time per full charge.  How bright do you keep your screen?  Are you in area with weak cell service

    Regards
