Fed up with the issues on Nokia 5, got a new Redmi 6 Pro :)
Is the Nokia under warranty? If so, return it to tech service until they give you the money back!!!
Marco, phone is already 1.5 years old, so no warranty
oh... 1.5 years is not much... here the law defines 2 year warranty...
That's great, here in India the warranty is applicable for only first year

i updated too Kushal, there seems to be a small improvement, as there was when I initially followed your suggestions. However the improvement seems small and by now I am pretty sure it will again slip back to quick draining. A problem is either fixed or not fixed. Now they only tamper with the problem to give small satisfaction and play with us. My Nokia 5 is 1 year old, still in it's initial 2 year guarantee. Well HMD, definitely cannot be trusted in my future phone choice
    Hello

Sorry you are upset.  Can you explain what you mean by battery drain?  What is your screen on time per full charge.  How bright do you keep your screen?  Are you in area with weak cell service

    Regards

    Jason
Jason, are you from Nokia care??

My Nokia 6 with Android 8.1 in standby mode supported 7days. With Android 9, it lasts for up to 4 days. I found that if I turned off the data permanently - the battery lasted for 10 days. But it turns into a regular phone, not a smartphone.
Android 8.1 worked perfectly without having to exclude the data.
Hope "HMD Global Oy" soon fix the problem or at least get us back to Android 8.1

Continous focus pumping in videos is exactly the same as in the prior version - possibly worse.
Time will tell about the rest.
  • Continous focus pumping in videos is exactly the same as in the prior version - possibly worse.

I use HedgeCam 2 for taking videos, it seems to have better results than the default camera app without pumping.

The Google Play Services battery drain at about 2 % per hour (at least on my phone) is NOT SOLVED by the March update, so no luck here. I got no other issues with the phone, but Pie quite ruined the experience for me. Since Pie is flawed, I'd love to have an official way of returning back to Oreo.

I hate to say this, but if this is not solved in the next months, I will probably not buy an HMD/Nokia phone again. :-( :-(

You will need to download your Nokia X, december 2017 update and 8.1 firmware. Everything is explained in the video.

100% working fix is only after return to oreo in nokia care... who thinking that this fix works, can charge phone to 100% in safe mode (with disabled apps installed from user) and battery saving mode with sim + mobile data, check the phone battery status every day, will show that there is no more than 3-4 days, and meanwhile use another phone...
on oreo here screenshot for 9 days and 10 hours usage in battery saving mode with 1 hour and 30 minutes screen usage:

how to boot in safe mode - hold power button until shutdown/reboot menu is shown, then hold reboot button and check safe mode...

  • "HMD Global Oy" they made me buy a new phone.
My Nokia 6 was still a warranty, but it became an undesired phone.
I think they had to wait for three years and then make this trade trick.

  • I've rolled back to nougat 7.1.1 and all stupid bugs disappeared. Conclusion: never update your phone firmware because updates are intended to **** up your phone

Yes it is intended, that's how companies make profit. They make you to buy a new phone

Yep, the no deep sleep issue seems to be finally gone! 👍 I disconnected my phone from the charger 20 hours ago and so far I lost only 12 % of the battery, although I tried triggering the issue with all the things that seemed to be related to it according to people on various forums, so I made a few calls, used BT in car, used Wi-Fi and located myself on the map.

  • Nice update after pie update, battery issue almost fixed ,now Stanby time increase, many issues seem to be solved,
Great work from hmd team, keep support for Nokia hmd team,

Can you guys tell me what's the SYSTEM space used by PIE? My 8.1 oreo is taking up 6.9GB, and i can't even download the 9 update (it needs 1.6GB to download!)

I could delete some apps to get space... but i need to be sure that i'm not going to be shorter on space after PIE update!

    Thanks.
  • Please fix Android pie or else we will leave Nokia company
  • Hello all Nokia users. After the latest build of Pie, system works much more smoothly. But I recommend to you that back up your all data and do a factory reset to take more effect from the MR update. At least you should wipe system cache.

About latest Pie build 6.17 (in my opinion):
    •Device lagging problem is solved.
•And even game performance is better (than February Pie build).
•And finally battery drains a little slowly.

If battery is still not enough for you, you can do something more:
•Disable Device Health Services app and turn off detecting battery, adaptive brightness.
•For more battery life and less device lagging, uninstall unnecessary apps and disable unusable apps (like Google Play Music app) and disable some services you don't need for now (like nfc, wifi scanning, bluetooth scanning etc.)
•Restrict apps you don't need all the time (you can just do it manually now).
•Use "Data Saver" option of Android. (For important apps you should give permission these apps for using mobile data all the time.)
•Finally, go to developer settings and find "background limit" option. Then select at least "at most 4 apps" option.

And then you're ready to go
I really hope that all of these advices will work for you too. Have a great day!

This one is the MUST DO solution to Nokia 5 LAG... (been doing it for months now, and must be done at every reboot!!!)  :o  it's the ONLY thing that made my device usable (still with OREO 8.1). Without it, my nokia is just a BRICK... :\

    Hello Guys,

I have found interim relief for the battery drain issue after Android Pie update on Nokia 5 (hope this will also work on other phones like Nokia 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 and 8).

Things need to be done to check if it workouts for you:

    1. Switch on battery Saver always(don't worry further setting told below will allow apps to run fine).

    2. Turn off adaptive battery/brightness.

    3. Tap 5 times on Build number in Setting(Settings> System > About Phone> build number) and turn on Developer mode.

    4. come to Developer options (in Settings> System )search through all the option and let them all be set to off, the Background process limit and Don't keep activity are set to "Standard" and"off" respectively by default please don't change this....its Very important.

    5. I also set the Window animation/Transition animation/Animator duration scale to "off" which drastically improved and eliminated few lags in notification bar/lock screen which I was randomly facing.

    6. Lastly Give a REBOOT to device.

Doing all this my battery backup is same as on Oreo 8.1 on my Nokia 5, hope this will also work for you guys. Give a try

Hi, I did everything on my Nokia 6.1 plus "mobile data always active" ai turned it off same with "automatic system updates" I turned it off and background process limit standard as it was and dont keep activity off as it was... I did as you instructed about animation. After this should I turn off the developer option?
  • i will try the way on my nokie phone.tks
