You may want to check my camera manual for Nokia 8 + sample photographs

As @mrbelter wrote: the stock cam is best when the light conditions are good - otherwise i use this port of the Google Cam very happily: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GCam_6.1.021_N7P_test2.3.apk

It's all the same. Just use the one Nokia provided.

It is not the SAME. I'm using BOTH Apps, the original AND the GCAM (especially by "darkness").

Here we are talking about Nokia 8 phone, not about Nokia 2.1 which you own.

Comparison between the Nokia 8 standard camera app and Gcam in everyday use i.e not low light. (i don't remember which gcam it was but it will be one of Arnova's)

As the official manual is outdated and very basic, you may want to check my camera manual for Nokia 8 with lots of sample photographs.

Both images look quite reasonable, although I can't help noticing the fairly prominent halo around the statue on the standard camera app photo, likely from local contrast enhancement / tonemapping. Other than that, I don't have a strict preference for which is better; the GCAM image is slightly darker/more punchy, but without having actually been there at the time, I can't guess which is more true to the reality.

The halo is visible on both images, the trouble is both images are taken from my Google Photos account and were therefore compressed to high heaven to start so i suspect it the large difference in contrast followed by the resizing and subsequent recompression has made it even worse.

I've continued the series of tests:
    - Google Cam with HDR on (01) and off (02)
    - Standard/Nokia Cam with HDR on (03), auto (04) and off (05)
    - Nokia Cam in dual mode, all pictures with tapping on the belly of the horse before shooting
The differences are again not very big, this time I find that the Nokia Cam with HDR best reflects the scene ...
Note the file sizes (all unprocessed)

Sorry about these double comments of mine ... I haven't been on the forum the whole afternoon. The previous comment for example was made yesterday but as I got a message that they would only be posted when approved, I tried to formulate them in another way and got them posted (see above). But one day later somebody (?) seems to have approved them ...
