Wondering why it’s called Nokia 4.2?
Interesting. That's exactly what we guessed. Welcoming the Nokia 4.2 to the family. BTW, I wish that key was customizable. For example I always disable the Google app and that will make the key redundant. It's sometimes better to open up and let the user customize it than forcing it.

It is easier to take a screenshot with Volume Down + Power Key. Not as fast as it used to be on WP but definitely faster than pressing the Assistant Button and then telling it to capture a screenshot. The camera app can be launched by Double Pressing the power Key which will be much faster than asking the google assistant to do it. It would be even faster if users could remap the Google Assistant button and set it to Open the camera app. Please consider the idea of a customisable button or does "Android One" limit this too?0:32 I guess Juho Sarvikas noticed something and was trying to say it to Pranav Shroff and Pekka Rantala but they didn't notice. Look at his hand gestures. 😅Agree with the naming of Nokia 4.2. Naming it 4 or 4.1 could have caused confusion and keeping it 4.2 makes the device line simple and makes the flow look natural. 🙂
I might be wrong. But I have an opinion that Google would be shedding some cash to have a dedicated assistant button on the phones. So, there should be some sort of exchange of bills based on which the dedicated assistant button is introduced. Or is it a mere competition to Samsung's bixby assistant button? Guess Samsung has it's personal benefits on pushing such a button as it can technically increase the adoption of Bixby. But for Nokia, there's barely any benefit, Google does seem to be getting a lot from it though. Now my next hope is about unlocked bootloaders and the open source community should be able to remap the key to something else.@KartikGada it will still be faster to hold down power button and tap on screenshot option than using assistant button and asking it. Or in fact swipe down the notifications and use that toggle. @Manus I completely agree. Using voice commands to invoke an assistant with which you're going to interact by voice is the better option.

madbilly said:@singhnsk you might be right about possible "platform support" payments (as the MS-Nokia ones were called I think). However, voice is quickly becoming an very important was for people to interact with technology, especially in developing markets. Arguably voice makes more sense on cheaper phones which is why Google Assistant on KaiOS is a "killer app", so I'm surprised that there's no dedicated button on the 1 plus.
HMD dumb decisions coming from Sarvikas only proves he needs to step down as soon as possible. The number 4 is seen as bad luck in many markets... that is why the REAL Nokia never released a 4 series phone. HMD is only damaging the Nokia brand with such stupid moves! A dedicated camera button would had been way better than than the useless Google assistant
