Why is beta labs for Nokia 8.1 open? Revert OTA affects ADP!

I learned via https://nokiapoweruser.com/rolling-back-nokia-8-1-from-android-10-here-is-how-you-can-get-july-august-security-patches/ that the beta labs programme for the 8.1 is active, somehow. If someone has ADP installed on their 8.1 then they can request OTA rollback via the beta labs page. Strangely, this results in different behaviour than requesting OTA rollback from the ADP page. Via beta labs the security updates for Juyl and August become available but via ADP rollback they do not.
There are clearly some things to fix here:
  • Fix the ADP OTA rollback so that it is possible to get security updates afterwards
  • Disable the beta labs rollback because it shouldn't be active at the moment (or should it?)
Or have I misunderstood the situation?

    Ah that website sometimes posts things without even trying to validate them 🤦‍♂
    All ADP users receive July and August updates. You need to wait for 24 hours from the time of requesting the downgrade OTA. I tried to develop a reasonable explanation for that here at the XDA thread, and the user did also confirm that the OTA came up after 24 hours. Where is the issue? I believe users should have some patience.
    I do wonder why the beta labs even have the device accepted and why it offers a downgrade build and not an upgrade. Probably moves the user to the stable release faster than others, I still doubt as that can leave some clashes if not delivered properly. Like the last year, we saw people receiving the downgrade update on top of the downgrade, and it won't install due to timestamp leaving users stuck. The 24-hour wait window sounds all a better option for me.

    Hi @singhnsk thanks for the clarification and the fact checking :D
    I think having beta labs page allow the request of downgrade is confusing and could possible cause issues in future, but that's for HMD to work out.
