Hello Fans, here's some good news for those of you using Nokia smartphones on Jio and Airtel networks. We're happy to announce that voice over any Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) is being enabled on a range of Nokia smartphones for Jio and Airtel users.

Jio users on Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 will be able to use VoWiFi.

Airtel users on Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 will be able to use VoWiFi.

[Update March 31] Airtel VoWiFi is available on Nokia 7.2, too.

[Update May 13] Airtel and Jio VoWiFi enabled on Nokia 3.1 Plus.

What is Wi-Fi calling?

The Wi-Fi calling feature lets you make calls directly from their smartphone to any other mobile or landline via a Wi-Fi network and without the use of any third-party app. Plus, as you move from Wi-Fi into a non-Wi-Fi location, the call is seamlessly moved to your telecom network. This is great news especially for those of you who face network coverage and quality issues indoors. Moreover, you can also make VoWiFi calls to a person who doesn’t have the feature enabled on their phone.

Please check with your operator (Jio or Airtel) to know the charges to make VoWiFi locally, while roaming, and internationally.

How to enable and use VoWiFi

  1. Open phone settings.
  2. Search for Wi-Fi calling option.
  3. Enable Wi-Fi calling option.
  4. Keep both VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling switched on.
  5. Connect to a Wi-Fi network to start making Wi-Fi calls anywhere in India using the same process as you do while making voice calls generally.

Now, your Nokia smartphone will automatically toggle between your Wi-Fi and cellular network to deliver the best call quality.

Happy VoWiFi calling, folks!
