Yes, but a good communication helps build a good relationship with customers. :)
Also, it's not about mentioning exact date. Just announce that we are working and the update should arrive in few days or weeks or months. So, users are updated and wait for it.
Exactly. They could just say "look, we have noticed some bugs and can't release the update yet, sorry" and it would be enough. But instead they chose to be silent like nothing happened. Maybe we won't get the update, maybe we will get it tomorrow, maybe they already released it but somehow nobody can download it? They should inform us, especially since they said "by the end of Q2 2020" and it's already one month into Q3... We want info, that's all.
all phone companies choose to remain silent about updates, and you just have to respect that. there are under no obligation to do so. it makes no difference if they say anything or not. The phones will be updated was communicated that is what you get, no point in saying more.

Yep you are correct. But I am now used to this and I know HMD updates their devices and they will update this one too.
The update schedule was announced and then they also communicated once when it got delayed due to the pandemic. Most companies are same when it comes to sw updates. They just announce it once and then go silent and just push the update when it is ready. I think the update for Nokia 5.1 should be coming this month but who I am to have concrete info. It's just my guess.😊
I would just say, enjoy doing other stuff and don't bother much about these sw updates. I personally stopped caring for software updates for Android One devices since i noticed they are not different than the previous one with just 1 or 2 new changes.
I also firmly believe HMD Nokia would benefit from a small pool of beta testers to soak test these new OS builds as most of the bugs are easily captured with real life phone use. Its a shame that they cant invest in some user beta trial but can take a beating in social media for bugs in new os builds. Don't get me wrong bugs happen and are expected at some level, but bugs based on just basic usability and functions should not get past beta testing.

What is the Nokia phone community for?
For sharing ideas and helping each other (users) understanding features etc.
Maybe their culture and business model does not support direct.communiction to customers how.is that different from any other phone company?
I think communication is key no matter how powerful the stakeholders involved are. It's about trust, one disappointed customer is an exponential loss in my opinion. Word of mouth is more powerful than any marketing strategy. How many reviewers actually talk about Nokia especially outside of India. None of the most influential reviewers care about HMD's Nokia devices. It's because of nonsense like this.
The situation is same in India too. Very few reviewers in India talk about Nokia. Also, currently there are no new phones so no coverage at all. 😅
You look so soft and optimistic for Nokia, this is my favorite too, but if you say something, do anything to keep it, and it's the only rule in the present time of the business world to survive.

A reply I got from Nokia recently. Hopefully it's this month because they seem to be getting it approved by different markets. Fingers crossed 🤞
All eligible Nokia devices for android 10 has updated only 5.1 and 3.1 not receive updates. Because all Nokia android 10 updated devices have many problems...
So they are in the work to fix them.
No it's not true Nokia 6.1 plus received update in December and I didn't notice any issue. BTW both of them(Nokia 6.1 plus & 5.1) launched in 2018

Damn, they are really bad at communicating with their customers... Like, they could just tell us "listen, we have some bugs to fix, be patient", but no, they are silent about it and we don't even know if we can expect the update next week, next month or maybe never.
I think now we should wait for Q4

Nokia 5.1 just got the Aug patch as expected they have not missed a single months security patch.
Which samsung phone is that? And what got updates the os or just security ?
Too bad that Nokia continues with the attitude of not releasing updates and patches to its devices, in its motto it said that they were "monthly" but nothing is true ...
Good for Samsung, they do comply with the things that Nokia hmd is not capable of fully.

No patches have been missed every month all phones are security patches.
Samsung does not provide updates or new.os to their lower.prices phones like hmd Nokia does. not even close.

There was a roadmap of releases this is not a promise but a guideline. Lets be honest here the 5.1 would be getting its second major update for a sub $ 200 phone that is almost 2 yrs released. It's a benefit that you get 2 os updates. There are only 2 phones left 3.1 and 5.1 to get android 10 , just be patient and enjoy your phones and the future updates. I received the latest security update on my 5.1 so I am not sure what you are trying to say. No one is one year late more like a little over a month past the timeline that was suggested not promised.
well, I think they meet every month with the patches, or maybe they have not yet released them for some models due to the covid-19 issue
Regarding Samsung I have nothing to say, I had no idea that they would not release updates from os like Nokia, that Nokia is more advanced in that regard, I had recently bought a mobile from the brand, anyway.
