Feature Readout

 Hello

I'm looking for a classic mobile phone that support a text to speech feature for a blind person.

We are based in france and french language is mandatory.

I have been in touch with KaiOS support that sent the following answer :

"The KaiOS-powered devices usually support the Readout mode. You can find it it under:

Settings -> Device -> Accessibility -> Readout - To enable the Readout mode, please set it to ON.
To switch the language to French, you would have to set it as the
language of the OS. To do that, please go to Settings ->
Personalization -> Language and choose French. Please note that the
volume of media controls the volume of the Readout. To change it, go to
Settings -> Personalization -> Sound -> Volume -> Media.

Please note that we are working with device manufacturers (OEMs)
and in some cases, they will determine if a certain feature is
implemented or changed
"

I do not find if the Nokia 8110 support this feature.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Gilles

I had a quick look but didn't find it on the device. Only Accessibility options are

    • Invert Colors
    • Backlight
    • Captions
    • Mono Audio
    • Volume Balance
    • Keypad vibration
    • TTY
  •  Thanks Rheve for your reply. I will investigate for another model/device manufacturer.

  • Hi @gilles.  I too am totally blind and was hoping this feature would be available through successive software updates however it doesn't appear to be the case which is a real shame.  I had high hopes for the Nokia 8110 4G being a spare phone I could indipendantly use however HMD has decided that this is not a viable function to enable on this phone.
