This happens with me quite often and I am sick of this phone for particular reason, can nokia not loook into it? Comeon dev team.

I would rather buy a phone which contains bloatware rather than buying a Nokia which has a clean stock android skin. This is so frustrating. Even though Nokia's camera quality is fine this bug makes me wanna not to use the phone at all. This has been going on for more than a year. Why aren't any devs looking into this. Also, why are updates like Android 11 not coming in Q1 of 2021 even though it is in the Android One program. I really won't recommend Nokia phones from now on.

Am i the only one who has noticed that the camera problem on the topic has gotten much worse recently? It seems to be happening every hour or 2 now. And i have tried also using gcam and disabling the main camera but it still happens.

Yeah same problem. I think I've just given up on this phone and nokia. Over a whole year and they can't even fix the camera problem which is one of the main features of any smartphone that exists. Looking for other options now. Maybe Sony or Samsung. I have also not been able to receive any security patches since January. Tried VPN too but no luck.

Alternatively try removing camera permissions for Instagram.

Check if you have Instagram. Remove the camera permissions for it.

Unfortunately same issue. I bought my 7.2 in April 2021 and in the first month it was great! then I don't know what happened to the camera

Just black screen when i use SC or IG

I'm gonna use this tips:

1/ Uninstall and reinstall SC and IG

2/ install Gcam

3/ delete SC

And if it's not working for me I'm gonna check the dealership in my country

Nothing would work, it is a bug WHICH HMD doesn't fix. The issue is present since last year

I found the solution. The camera app is clashing with Instagram. So, if you deny IG from using camera app from the permission.

( Settings ----Apps & Notification -----Instagram ------ Permissions.)

They both won't clash and then you can use camera for more important stuff like gpay and everything.

Yepp, agree on that.

But I can use Instagram as long I don't install Snapchat or Facebook.

As soon as these co-exists on phone the camera app just dies but one at the time seems to work.

Does disabling camera permission in all social media app (FB, SC, IG, ...) make any difference?

It's a poor/bad workaround (NOT a solution!) but seems to help at least few users.

I have same issue with camera after updating to Android 11......

I tried to investigate why it happening. And looks like problem is in software which is can't detect front camera, because main camera is triple camera and it makes Android thinking that ultra wide camera is a front camera. You can check this if you install any other camera app from google play market(app should not hide camera switch button) and try to tap on switch camera button

Maybe problem can be solved by editing build.ini file, but i don't have root acces. HMD devs please spent some time to test and fix this bug. Nokia users really frustrating and dissapointed by it. Or you wana many of Nokia smartphone users switch to another smartphones just because you don't care?((

I own 2 7.2 phones and we both had a problem with the camera app. Almost very time we used the app the phone restarted!

So we use another camera app now from the Android store and the problem is gone. It was never fixed with by HMD global with any of the updates.

What isntge point in discussing this issue here if NOKIA dosent want to fix this bug after so long . I really regret buying this phone these days too much bugs

its so frustrating to read this forum, well never get an answer from nokia :(

something that did worked for me was to dowgrade to android 9, where i buyed it , they did it to my phone and i had it working great frome some months till i decided to try android 10 again and the problem came back, so ...

Does anybody know a safe way to do this at home? downgrade this phone to android 9?

Thanks for ur time and for sharing your ways to fix this. Denying permissions on social media also worked for me, but i use ig a lot so have it blocked for using the camera wont work for me.

Support/updates for 7.2 ended for few months ago so You shouldn't hold Your breath.

(Nokia 7.2 support ended September 2022)
