DPI issues Ahh.. They haven't been able to sort these since over a generation now. I've been seeing these on Nokia 6.1 and its brothers and it is still here now that we are on the X.3 series.
I'll keep some hope that they'll fix these to allow all kind of users a happy access to the phone irrespective of their DPI settings.
Use a better launcher and you won't have these issues , lawnchair or nova
Using other launchers are a good option but not the solution which has to be provided by HMD.
The stock launcher on most brands is just a watered down version with poor or no options. I don't understand why not use a real customizable launcher?
You lose the option to swipe up for app drawer in recents view with a third party launcher. Only the system launcher can do this.
Stop defending HMD unnecessarily. Allow people to criticise them without trying to shut them down.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Not sure what you mean by lose the option to swipe up for apps drawer in third party launcher ?
Essentially in stock launcher you can swipe up further from the recent apps (app switching) pane to reach the all apps screen.
All other launchers don't have that integration. You need to get out of the recents window to do a swipe for all apps 😁
I don't mind the missing functionality. But yeah those who got used to it will miss it when they switch to a different launcher. Also, with custom launchers, I've seen at least some level of "refresh or reload" when accessing the homescreen at times. As if they get cleared from the memory. No outside app can get the privilege equivalent to the system apps and hence maybe he has fair criticism when he finds a flaw in the stock launcher and looks for some improvements in it, a custom launcher is a work around, but not a direct solution. Nokia/Google should somehow address the problems as well.
If you enable gesture navigation on Nova Launcher (swipe up to minimize app) you will get random looong freezes of the UI. So I don't recommend it. No Nova - no problems.
I hate large icons on stock Android, but I learned to use folders and pack all my apps on the home screen. There are many things to learn when using Nokia :D Not always good things.
The best launcher supporting gestures is lawnchair workes extremely well and support at a glance better than any other non pixel launcher.
