The idea is nice, but if n Nokia aka HMD increases the update timeline to 3 years of regular software updates, then it would be nice, another option HMD has (if Google does this, HMD should do it) is to give 5 years of updates like Apple, there is a rumour that Google is thinking about extending the update period to 5 years for is Google pixel lineup.....
OS updates incur development and server maintenance cost. So, you cannot expect them to do that for free for such a long period of time. Also, people usually change their smartphones after 2-3 years.
The problem here is that, the software development team can't raise enough funds especially for this phone, to keep pushing updates.......
