Same issue here as well. Nokia should fix this issue as soon as possible. Especially the swipe up screen problem.
I had sent my 5.3 to Nokia service and they replaced display which resolved proximity sensor AND burn issues. Attaching service analysis of the phone so you can see which parts are faulty.
nokia 5.3 problem proximity sensor
I too have same issue 😒
whenever I attend call from someone / call someone.. display becomes blank 😒
Based on latest comment this can be fixed in service center ? Any Service Center near T.Nagar or Tambaram Chennai ?
Can this be done within few hour ? Or need to drop and pickup ?
Ok so I thought only my mobile had display retention issues, so actually it's a display manufacturing defect.
So was it done free of cost or you had to pay something?
I had contact with the Support about the issue with the proximity sensor. They thold me to send my Phone to the Nokia service for repair.
This annoying bug never got fixed even after so many months of complaints from users. This is what HMD is now, they don't have the passion and direction which they had when they started off.
My phone screen turns black and now it's started dropping calls a few minutes into the call. I don't have my original paperwork and I can't even call NOKIA because my phone doesn't WORK!
This company has become useless now.
I found a temporary solution for this issue.
I installed the app "Call proximity sensor fix" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ml.proximitysensorfix.
This app is designed for a slightly different purpose - it locks the screen while making calls.
But when I installed the app the proximity sensor issue seems to have disappeared e.g. I am able to swipe up the login screen, while making the call the screen does not go blank etc. The proximity sensor value (2.0) is getting identified properly.
However, this app locks the screen when making a call which may be bit challenging at times. Workaround for this is to revoke the accessibility privilege which you would have provided while installing the app. If you are fine with screen getting locked while making calls you don't need to do this step.
It is working for me so far.
We don't want temporary solutions. If HMD cannot provide a fix even after two months of reporting, it's better they close the shop 😀
for me, whenever the screen goes black... I swipe on the sensor and the device is up and running again...
but it's stressful doing that every time 😢
