Hello Sir, I have submitted my responses to this survey. I have mentioned some of the key points related to this survey in my previous comment so I will add that comment here.
I hope, this will be helpful feedback from me.
No doubt, Nokia launched good phones in the initial years of come-back. But now, there seems to be some sort of compromises being made.
Indian market has been neglected to some extent as certain phones launched in global markets, have really good features and are value for money, are either never launched, or delayed launched.
While buying my Nokia 7 Plus in 2018, I was really very excited to get a Nokia device. Waited 2 months and even asked the shopkeeper to reserve a black variant for me.
I recommended 5 of my friends to buy a Nokia in the next 1 year (though now only 1 of them is using a Nokia phone and 4 already shifted to other brands).
But in the next few months of purchasing, I realized, HMD is just fulfilling it's obligation of Android One program.
Just a few points as feedback (if read and acknowledged by anyone from HMD-Nokia).
Thank you.
Filled the survey. 👍️
Some thoughts that came to my mind while filling the form:
I really hope these surveys will help make improvements in future devices...🙄
Wow, This post went unnoticed.😅
Here's what I think Nokia Mobile needs to improve on the software side and it is very simple. They have to leave the Android One Program or limit the number of phones per year that are part of this program. People want more from their phones and I have seen many people leave Nokia just because of the software problems and limitations. I don't want to pay extra for an Android One phone.
Regarding Bloatware and Ads:
People (the majority) buy phones from competitor brands that are full of bloatware and ads. An average consumer doesn't care about all this stuff. Now, I am not saying I want to see ads on Nokia smartphones or I am fine with it. No, I definitely don't want Nokia phones to come with ads but I am totally fine if Nokia phones come with some useful apps pre-loaded such as Outlook, Onedrive, SMS Organiser, MS Office apps, WhatsApp Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Photo editors like Adobe, Snapseed and other "useful" apps if they can help in bringing down the cost of a phone. However, the users should have an option to uninstall these apps and not just "disable" them. I don't want Nokia phones to come pre-loaded with apps such as daily hunt and other such ad serving apps. I am fine with bloatware that can be uninstalled like the "Netflix" app on some newer Nokia phones.
Android Updates, Security patches and Beta Labs
I am fine if I get security patches every three months or even SIX (sorry to those who don't think the same😅) but I would prefer to have an update that brings something new or fixes some bugs every time my phone gets it. Invest resources in providing 3-4 Android version upgrades to devices at least in the upper mid-range or high-end segments.
Come on, we also have Beta Labs, why not put it to better use? Just start somewhere with building your own Android skin and allow us, users, to test it via beta labs. It will slowly improve and Nokia can then deliver a nice software experience to end consumers. Users can also be allowed to test the beta versions of apps like Camera, MP3 Player (if HMD plans to make one) and many possibilities will open up. You can also create space for budding young developers to share their apps on the Beta Labs which can be tested by Beta Labs members. It can bring a lot of cool ideas to life and to Nokia phones.
Design and Build Quality
My first Nokia smartphone running on stock android was the Nokia 2 back in 2018 and after a couple of months, I purchased the Nokia 7 Plus then was lucky enough to get hold of the Nokia 9 PureView. All three devices ranging from ultra low end to premium flagship are made out of metal and the in-hand feel is solid. I understand that metal increases the cost as well as the manufacturing time of phones but the in-hand feel is unmatched. It is fine to use polycarbonate for low end and lower mid-range phones but phones in the Nokia 7 series and above need to have some premium feel to them. I was disappointed to see the Nokia 8.3 5G that costs almost the same as the Nokia 9 PureView at launch is made out of Polycarbonate. And here's another small thing about the design which I want Nokia Mobile to fix in their upcoming phones. This is the Nokia 8.3 5G, see that buffer between the front glass and the frame of the phone. It doesn't look good on a premium smartphone. Nokia phones even the low-end ones with 2.5D curved glass never had this type of buffer and it doesn't look seamless. It is not a good design and this has to go at least from the high-end phones. Budget phones can either come with flat displays or this plastic buffer should come in some matching or contrasting colour or in a matte finish that doesn't make it look like an unneeded element.
I can only hope that Nokia Mobile will bring some changes to its software choice and also improve the product features going ahead. 🙂
