I think that's a big misconception. This is something old OnePlus fans say at every launch "This is not the OnePlus we knew. This product will be a big flop". But OnePlus knows its thing and manages to sell decent numbers.
I guess it is a similar case for Nokia. Old fans may no longer want to buy their phones, but they can make some new people interested in their offering. Only time can tell answers to such things. Hence I do not generally derive such conclusions.
I think they still have the potential to generate some sales for their devices. There is still an audience that will settle for their new devices, at least the USB port or emmc won't just break down randomly. And it is good that the generally useless security updates every month are not taking the center stage of their marketing anymore. The result will be that users will not be cursing the brand in case a patch or two are missed here and there.
Why was Nokia phones chosen over more value for money phones in the market. Stock Android experience, timely OS upgrades and monthly security patches.
But now apart from stock Android experience what's happening with the OS upgrades? Most of the phones are already past one year and still waiting for their phones upgraded. Monthly security patches are either skipped or not monthly anymore. Two A11 roadmaps in a span of 6 months and mostly none of them fulfilled.
Now who would want to buy HMD/Nokia's phones which are so expensive and no differentiating factor, Only time will tell.
But for me been a Nokia fan for so long, they've just become like any other brand in the market🙂
Sometimes, I don't understand their strategy. Some models get the OS upgrade sooner, some get it very late. But still they'll all have annoying bugs, and fixes take another 4-5 months. By the end of two years there will still be bugs unaddressed. So the third year goes by without any MR update but only security patches.
I am using the Nokia 2.4 as my primary phone for 6 months now. It got Android 11 and it is working perfectly fine for me. What bugs are present in the Nokia 2.4?
You are lucky, two of my friends who got this phone say there's network problems after the A11 update. They always blame me for recommending this phone model to them.
As per someone in the Nokia 2.4 section, the issue was fixed recently. Can you ask your friends again and see that they have updated the phone?
I have my Jio SIM in it and I am using the phone since the last week of December without any issues. Maybe some devices were affected. I hope the issue has been fixed for your friends.
This site seems to have been hijacked by Indian fan boys. Nokia should offer a separated/dedicated forum community for India. I’m really fed up with their invasive whining and egoistical obsessions concerning India only. The same applies to YouTube.
Indian intrusions and childish whining **** off a lot of civilized people. Enough is enough!
As a consumer all I can see is Nokia is lost in its marketing day dream and doesn't see the current reality. All roadmaps mean nothing and only a handful of devices are updated to A11.
Hi @dipankar paul, so, now we are officially in the 2H of 2021. When is the planned Android 12 DP supposed to roll out? This month? This week? Because the longer it delays, the less useful it becomes. From July there's possibly 2 more months (August-end or September) when Google will call it final and ready to release for Pixels and RTM for others.
I'm trying to look for some positive sides around the whole updates problem. Can we please have more solid deadlines and ETAs?
I just prayed Nokia didn't disappoint us this time around. Google is almost done with the build of A12 and Nokia hasn't even started the A12 beta program. Please don't disappoint me, because if something like what happened on Nokia 5.3 I am done with Nokia.
At the moment it's better not to trust this company. After Juho's exit there's a lot of mismanagement happened internally. Their priorities have changed. They may be or may not be rectifying it yet. A11 is already delayed for so many phones which HMD was boasting about in the past, and you're talking about A12 developer preview. Either fall for their marketing or dump them that's the best you can do to save your hard earned money.
The primary reason why certain older models won't get Android 12 is because the chipsets on those devices can't support it, you'll end up with the same issues that Apple devices has, screen lag, hot battery, short battery life, much slower processing, etc. A12 seems to utilize a lot of parallel processing (not supported or poorly supported by older chipsets), if you're in Dev Preview. You could always go ahead and flash your own custom firmware, but doing so will void your warranty, doesn't matter as much after your warranty expired anyway.

I agree, people used to buy, but never will. They are soon going to taste failures 😉
While they decide that ...there will be no one in India wants nokia anymore

Yes that could be the reason why Nokia 2.4 got half baked A11 even before Nokia 5.3,6.2,7.2 and 9 pureview.
Also 8.1 got half baked Android 11

EDIT
Here's the link to the post in Nokia 2.4 section.
Thanks for the info. I'll check with them whether they've done the recent update and the issue is been fixed or no.

Where is Android 11 for Nokia 5.3 and other models?
Q2 and second Roadmap is now old news. We need answers!
Looks like HMD is in hibernation mode since Juho left the company.
These Nokia phones will get Android 12
Here's the list:
It is a little bit hard to see that happening without Android 11 in my Nokia 5.3 😤
For now we'll focus on dumb A11 then we'll talk about dumb A12

Nokia is busy bringing out phones and also making promised upon promises. When is A12 Beta developer going live for Nokia X20?
Is this list from the infobae site true, or did they make a mistake?https://www.infobae.com/tecno/2021/07/07/android-12-estos-son-algunos-de-los-moviles-a-los-que-llegara-el-sistema-operativo-de-google/
Which devices are supposed to get three Android OS updates on Nokia? anyone know? thanks
The promise of 3 OS upgrades started with the X series, so, as of now, the X10, X20 and XR20 are eligible for 3 years of OS upgrades.

We are already deep into the second half of the year. What's the status of this Developer Preview update for the Nokia X20? 😮
