Why is the boot.img showing as a P file? WTF is a P file anyway lol?

Just trying to get the updated boot.img from a 1.3. Found the correct OTA but it's the P file thing. I have no idea. Explain to a noob please?

Hi, OTAs would usually contain the payload file that you need to extract using suitable tools (like Payload Dumper) before you can get access to individual files. The boot file will be boot.img only.

It's your extraction that has likely gone wrong.

What would you recommend for extraction of the OTA? Would WINRAR work, or 7Z? I cant put the zipped file itsself into payload dumper correct? Or will that extract it as well? Thanks man

You can use WinRAR or 7-zip to extract the payload.bin file from the OTA zip.

And then you need to use the payload dumper to extract the payload and get individual files. You will need to install python (and any other dependencies as needed) for the payload dumper to work.
