Someone on Reddit reached out to Nokia HMD Global support and inquired about both Nokia 5.3 and 5.4. We all seem to have been scammed!! There seems to be no plan to release Android 12.
If you asked about Android 12 during 2020, you would have been told there were delays because of COVID-19. Throughout 2021, you would have been informed it was delayed, but "coming soon." Now July 2022, as the two-year mark comes around the corner, even though their website has not been updated, and still suggests your device will support Android 12, Nokia HMD Global support is being honest, no, Android 12 is not coming.
Nokia HMD Global seems to have lied to us all to keep sales going.

As for interactions and replies from Nokia Support, it is outsourced, and those guys do not have a slight clue about the future roadmap for updates. So, believing anything they say is pointless.
So, wait for an official word from hmd global or their direct employees. I do not think anybody beyond the product teams know the status of updates.
So we just get one out of the 2 promised OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates which are themselves arriving late.
HMD will run Nokia's name to the ground so bad the iconic brand might just die for the last time.
I don't want major updates , just minor updates for android 10 and 11 to fix problems.
I dont want major updated that add or fix something and break others!
