HMD has picked great hardwares for their premium midrange phone but fails misserably on software.
1) Battery Optimization is weak
*Being part of the Android One program makes them release updates fast but they're not optimizing it. I tried light usage with one SIM set to 4G and the other on 2G, WiFi and Bluetooth scanning is disabled. Haptic feedback and ambient display is also disabled. Location and SmartLock is disabled, too. Using WiFi only when needed. Uninstalled apps I rarely use and the battery still doesn't last like it was advertised. A 4hr SoT is too low.
2) Camera Failures
*The phones comes with two main camera, one is telephoto. However, using the 2x zoom on the camera doesn't really use the telephoto lens even in good lighting conditions. If you take a picture with 2x zoom and ispect the metadata, it still show that the 12MP f1.8 camera was used. Using the telephoto lens is a hit or miss.
*Camera post processing needs tons of improvements.
*Manual focus mising on front camera.
*A ridiculous half-Gigabyte sized camera app. It seems that the ugly AR stickers are bloating the camera app. Remove it for it's slow and sluggish and also ugly.
*Give us back the manual HDR mode. The Auto-HDR doesn't really work.
*Pro-Mode in video recording. For some reasons, I want to manually focus when video recording.
*Ozo audio recording produce poor sound quality.
3) Phone speaker and headset
*You need to improve the sound quality from both the speaker and headphone. Speakers doesn't produce rich sound and there's so much noise when the volume is maxed.
*Bring back the SnapDragon Audio+. The current equalizers just sucks and doesn't have reverb effect. The Surround and Bass Booster is disabled even when headphones are plugged.
Lots of things needs to be fixed in you browse the forum but HMD seemed to be too lazy to provide some fixes. Just throwing updates to users like, there you go, that's our promised update. Making users believe HMD is great for providing update with tons of bugs and failures.
