Nokia 8 Microphone problem PLEASE HELP !

My case: after beat 9 updated, no problem so far. So I guess it's caused by OZO, not hardware.

Please uninstall the update of google app on your smartphone if you are suffering the same problem.. without any issue of mic but call....

So the issue seems to be with microphone 2 for everyone. 
You can find that out by typing *#*#372733#*#* into your dialpad and testing all the microphones( loopback test).
Mic 2 is situated at the back of the phone. 
To resolve my issue, i blew some air hard on the microphone. Hope this helps

I just Upgraded to 8.1 and now i got this issued... Any way to disable the back mic (mic 2). Than everyting Works 😒

I believe this can be solved by FIH Mobile. The software should be able to reach test results as well. They can easily disable one mic if marked defective on FQC test.

i updated to pie to get rid from battery drain and now my microphone doesn't work on calls and default camera, not even with full reset. wth hmd is with these bugs, i'm tired of these 2 bugs. fix this **** already, if you can't hire more people.

Hi, any news about the microphone issue? Anything I tried to solve it (resets, hard and soft, tinkering with third party apps, etc.) was ineffective. What seems to (temporarily) work is (please do not laugh...) blowing air in the microphones. Seems like one has to bring a can of compressed air anywhere to be able to make calls with this phone. It would be laughable, if this wasn't a so called flagship by a well renowned name.

I had this issue with my Nokia 8 and got it repaired under warranty in November, it just started happening again unfortunately but I followed the advice here and was able to fix it (at least for now) by blowing compressed air into the mics. I think it was the back mic which was causing the problem, probably a bit of pocket lint got in there or something.

I have the same problem, but I found when took sim cards out and return them , problem Is gone for the some time ( half a day ) ?!
Even test for mic2 passed!

After android 9 uptaded problem stil remain... :-(

Hi.I have bad calls from Nokia 3.But when i cleaned all mics from DUST.Problem was gone.Solved and working 100% for me. Use something like needle. Hope it helps you too.

I got instructions for the graphics test but it didn't work. I never got as far as the recovery screen. It kept restarting. Ttheinstructions were inadequate. Can you explain what you did?
And this forum constantly tries to insert photos or currupts the text when I try to edit. Other devices used to edit/write don't do either. I.e. it must surely be the website? Nokia more or less denies thethere is a problem. "thethere" in previous sentence is an example of how the text corrupts.

Didn’t work. Ended up with No Command under an Android icon.
The instructions are unclear. Release the All button? 1. Connect phone to PC ... 4. Connect... I WAS connected!
If you used Google translate for the instructions, please resend it in your language. Google translate is total rubbish, and should NEVER be relied on at any time. For example, English to Danish can be really good, because they had to get Danes to do it, but Danish to English is largely word for word gibberish.

When you see No command and the reclining Android man, you need to hold down the Power key, then press Volume Up once, then select from the list.
I have requested a full English text of the precise instructions from Support, who also sent me another method last week, but which was also inaccurate.

Performing the Graphics Test does not seem to have had any effect on anything. What drivers are affected by the test? I saw circles whirling round, then I thought “Will the Sun ever rise again” (in other words, “Is this doing a full reset anyway”).

I had the problem too! For a day.  tried all the things given in this post , like cleaning microphone, uninstalling the Google app updates, etc., But none had any cause and effect. It just started working fine again. But one thing I've learnt is Nokia's  negligence to this issue. Even thoith so many people faced this issue there was no official word or a work around from them. Really diappointed.

Have you reported the problem to support? Reinstalling Google didn't work more than once for me. I have to keep restarting my phone for it to work.

I am going to do a coplete tear down and change the Sub PCB with the main microphone on it. I am sick on this issue. I have a smashed screen as well, this is ordered, so I will do a write-up on ifixit to test whether this really is a SW or HW issue. With the £ of phones now, I am ready to bin the Nokia, or I will be after the testing.

Same problem, diagnostics says my mic1 not working. Calls work fine and video, but 3rd party apps not at all.

Same issue here, did everything mentioned but nothing worked. Test revealed it was mic 2 with the issue. Was affecting phone calls and videos. 
Thought it had to be a hardware issue. Mic 2 is located on the top back. 

So I squeezed that area on and around the mic with my fingers a little and the phone is now back to normal. I'm assuming the mic assembly is pressure mounted with spring contacts and this has improved the connection to the mainboard, or the actual mic is faulty and squeezing has closed whatever part of the mic circuit was slightly open. Either way it's worth a shot. 

And either way, poor form for the manufacturer not getting involved in this forum, investigating and/or owning the issue. Very slack in my opinion.

Edit. Found a tear down pic of the rear camera/mic board for reference. Note mic 2 pictured is on top of the 2 cameras. So looks as though the mic is soldered to the board and the issue is faulty mic or faulty connection of the mic to the board.

3 microphones indeed but very low quality microphones. I guess thought process of HMD Global chief product officer when designing Nokia 8 went like this: "We licensed OZO tech from real Nokia, now lets save some pennies and install some cheap a$$ microphones. Suckers will never know."

Mic played up again this morning, my above mentioned method didn't work. So I poked a soft bristle brush in the mic hole gently and wiggled it, now working again.
