I want to enter developer mode.

FYI, KaiOS Techonlogies advised me "If you want to develop an app for KaiOs, you can send a detailed proposal to
[email protected], or submit it via our
contact form under “Partnership opportunities”. You may also benefit from checking our
Developer Portal for more information about creating apps and requirements."0 -
same question, follow up ...

After submit some question to KaiOS, i've got this answer but it doesn't work for me bcoz Nokia 8110 4G is non-touch screen device and enter button many times on version 2.5 info doesn't work also. Then i hope Nokia engineering or HMD engineering who embed KaiOS OEMs in Nokia 8110 4G can answer us.

https://developer.kaiostech.com/environment-setup
displays additional menu option:
https://developer.kaiostech.com/environment-setup/settings-device.png
this does not seem to be there on Nokia 8110 4G0 -
I got the answer from the Nokia support chat (bot?):
In German:
> Nokia 8110 4G betreibt zwar das Betriebssystem KaiOS, aber dieses wird bei verschiedenen Geräten unterschiedlich eingerichtet. Bedauerlicherweise ist diese Option bei der gegenwärtigen Version des Modells nicht verfügbar.
> Wir werden aber Ihre Anmerkungen darüber an die Entwicklungsabteilung weiterleiten und hoffen, dass sie berücksichtigt werden.
Translated:
> Nokia 8110 4G operates the KaiOS operating system, but this is different for different devices. Unfortunately, this option is not available in the current version of the model.
> However, we will forward your comments to the development department and hope that they will be taken into account.
When asked a question whether developers get something different, they said:
> Leider kann ich Ihnen zurzeit nur mitteilen, dass diese Möglichkeit beim Nokia 8110 noch nicht verwendet werden kann. Ich werde aber Ihr Feedback an die zuständige Abteilung eskalieren
> Unfortunately, I can only inform you at the moment that this option can not yet be used on the Nokia 8110. But I will escalate your feedback to the department responsible0 -
All the hype but no dice... I hope a firmware update enables the option. Can't wait to get started.

I tried above method and worked. First I extracted it, because I wanted to know what I was about to flash. Seemed legit and after the few steps, I now have developer options. Thank you very much to the guy who made this

Hi, I tried what posted above (using smith.zip) and it worked.
Now, I got developer mode in my Nokia 8110, I configured the environment in a VirtualBox Debian machine (as reported here https://developer.kaiostech.com/environment-setup) and everything was ok.
Anyway, I can't find my phone in the listed devices in WebIDE. Does anyone managed to do it?
Thank you.

Be careful with patching your phone, you may lose the ability to update.
You can enter the development mode without hacking, just dial the *#*#33284#*#* (*#*#debug#*#*). A bug icon should appear in the system taskbar above.

Yes, I'd suggest you update the Medium article or take it down because the method modifies /system partition and afterwards the OTA updates cannot be applied.
Even rolling back changes to the files does not help, because the updater is checking the checksum of the system partition.
If anyone has a clean /system image 11.00.17.03 I'd like to know!0 -
I'm in the same situation, stuck in 11.00.17.03 because of this. Once you modify it, I can't update at all. Or we should think together where/who to ask at Nokia (because this is a Nokia thing, not KaiOS). I've tried to do it at their support chat but the person attending thought I was talking non-sense.

Hi, I have a small question.
I enabled debug mode ( *#*#33284#*#* ) but I am not able to see "Developer" item in "Device" menu. I found that: http://omnijb.831337.xyz/ but I have problem with step 3 (remote runtime always returns error with connecting).
I see device with "adb devices", when I open WebIDE I also see Nokia phone under USB list and I was able to select it, however when I try yo run app (OmniSD) from my harddrive - I am not able to press "run" button (it is disabled all the time).
Any hint?
btw. Nokia/HMD could enable Developer menu when entering "debugger" - I purchased this phone only for debugging purposes.. so a bit disappointing..
I updated Firefox from 63 to 64, now can not see phone in WebIDE at all..0 -

I have made a tutorial here: https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/bananahackers/oibDSjczSPI
Note that this only works on Mac/Linux (no Windows support for now)

It looks like this method has been deprecated in favour of *#*#33284#*#*0

I received the following reply from KaiOS Support on 13 August, 2018:"The Developer mode is a basic feature which is commonly supported by the devices operating KaiOS. However, it is currently not supported in Nokia 8110 4G. As much as we'd love to help, HMD/Nokia is the device manufacturer (OEM) and they may change some features or decide when a particular update activating the Developer mode will appear"0

Thanks to all for the feedback. Is there a way to switch the debug mode back off with a “magic command”?0
-
It does not. Now I’m stuck with a stupid bug in the taskbar. Anyone know how to turn debug mode off. I want to add icons to the home screen. Thought this might have a hidden menu but it does not. Help. I’ve taken battery out makes no difference

*#*#0574#*#* ADB DEBUG then untick

Hello, is this still true?
I was following the instructions on your web site for the OS ENV Setup on Windows but when I go to the Device Settings there is no Developer option to access the ADB and DevTools (even though the device is in debug mode).
In fact when I connect the usb to my PC the device doesn't appear on the computer.

There's a very easy way to enable developer menu on any KaiOS device:
- Visit menu.kaios.dev on your KaiOS device
- Settings app will open with options to enable debugging: Debugger -> ADB and DevTools
After that a little bug icon will appear at the top of the screen which indicates that your device is now ready for adb access via USB. You can check that with command `adb devices`.
