Cut in Notification Bar Dont Works

Hello guys,

I came to register a bug that is occurring in the Nokia X6 Android One of 6Gb ram. In the current version of Android the device only identifies the camera cut and the notification bar on the lock screen. In other screens, and even in the system launcher, the configuration of the bar ignores the cut-off layout of the screen and is capped. Note that it is not possible to see the battery bar.

I talked to nokia support and they assured me that solving this problem would come in some update. So I came here to record this problem.

Come on Nokia, change this on your Android system! It was very frustrating to see this on the new device!

Especially when you're an Android enthusiast!

Hi, this is actually not a fault by Nokia. This is a fault from your seller. He did flash the Nokia X6 from CN ROM to the Global Android One ROM. But he did not make the necessary changes to the SKUID. This has caused the device's certain services to stop working. The fake cutouts are one. You'll also notice that certain gesture settings like double tap to wake are not there.
Blame your seller or whatever, but your only solution right now is to either unlock the bootloader and change the SKUID via root; or buy some conversion services which will do it for you. Both of these are paid services, thank HMD for not making it easier.
  • Hello singhnsk,

I can not blame my seller since it was in the ad that the version is the global one. Nokia should support this service even in this version. I do not see problem flashing my device either. The problem is that I just bought it and when this type of change is reported, it is no longer possible to update the device. And that's the last thing I want. I have already performed the n security updates of the device and I prefer to keep it in the current version until someone real from Nokia authorizes the update to repair the problem or authorization for new flash without loss of updates.

Thank you for your clarification and promptness.

Hi @Tássio, you will still have to blame the seller. Because:
    1. Nokia does not sell the Nokia X6 outside of China.
    2. Nokia X6 will NEVER come with Android One (or global) ROM pre-installed from the factory. The TA-1099 product variant will always come with CN ROM (unless seller interveined)
It is your seller which flashed the global ROM on your device before shipping it to you. And as such, Nokia should not be responsible for the failures on the part of the seller because they want to sell a cheaper phone to international users.
Further, Nokia will not honor this device's warranty or show willingness of fixing it because the warranty is only valid in the country of original sale (via Nokia's channels).
The issue happens because deep into the phone's deviceinfo, the SKUID is mentioned as of a CN device. So, the core system expects the software to be the Chinese (CN) ROM. But your seller has flashed the global ROM. This mismatch is causing all the trouble. Nokia cannot and shall not fix such a thing via the OTA update, because it is an unofficial modification of the device. Users of global phones or those having properly converted X6 will not face any such issues.

    Thanks for the speed!

Inquiring about the system, I believe he is Vietnamese. This screen firmware apparently seems to be from there.

I have already informed the seller, however I do not believe he will be able to help me in this, since he probably bought this device from someone else.

I'm with Android One 9, I can only find ROMs CN and other countries with version 8.1. I wonder if these versions will be updated, as I would not want to lose the experience with the Pie. :(

All official WW ROMs will receive the updates without issues. But anyhow you cannot flash anything on Nokia phones yourself.
There are only 2 variants of software: CN and WW. Yours should be WW with probably your localized SKU details or else carry WW. Both work great and will include support for your language.
  • Digite seu comentárioI spent all day looking for some way to unlock the OEM for my Nokia. And unfortunately in this update Nokia has removed access to Dowload Mode and fastboot commands. And now?

@SpaceHunter To be honest, Nokia did not block anything. The Download Mode works, fastboot commands do too, but Nokia never offered a bootloader unlock, that's why it does not work.
That's why I recommended that you blame your seller and get a resolution. Because if not, it is going to be a paid task, either remotely or via a cellphone repair shop (provided they know what to do). Since Nokia officially will not make an unofficial modification for you.
  • I'm sorry @singhnsk but I believe you're defending Nokia for more. Several people have been experiencing this problem since the last May 1 update. I have already found several posts here in the community with this same problem on 6Gb models. It's no use going to complain to the salesman about something that was not a problem in the last security paths and now it popped up. Nokia is not exempt from the responsibility of giving support, since Android One has come up with the offer of periodic updates, and we are still in the second year of the One proposal. I can not simply return a purchase of an import item (which I already I know I do not have International support) Ask my salesperson who is also from my country to change the device. Get another one and then update it so that it also faces the same problem. I will not exchange the device for another model, Nokia that should fix this in their bugfixes. And on the OEM mode, all companies will somehow release this mode through the site (with the user's consent of loss of warranty) to run the fastboot command for customizations or stock facilities, even more after the deadline the product is no longer supported. Nokia should not evade this obligation. Even more than trying to enable this validation with its code release app, this same app does not support the X6 device in this current version, post August 1st. - Sorry, but I think you're carrying a lot of the Nokia banner, for who should be helping the community.

@singhnsk And sensibly if it is for you to keep responding to this post, and filling my problem with comments that will not lead to the solution of the device (even in a super advanced way) I ask you not to re-post here. Well I do not want Nokia advocates, I want people who understand the OS to help me fix the device myself (which until then is blocked).

@SpaceHunter I'm mum if you spot even 1 person facing a similar issue who has a Nokia 6.1 Plus (and not an X6 flashed to Global). You'll only find X6 owners. And 6GB RAM is no exception. It will happen on both 4GB and 6GB variants after the Android 9 update. The devices still on Android 8.x will continue to work fine. And Nokia's Android One obligation is for the Android One branded devices, yours unfortunately isn't one. It does not sport the Android One logo on the back.
I agree on the official bootloader unlock. Nokia should offer that. In fact, a lot of users have been demanding it since more than an year now. Unfortunately, Nokia has not listened much other than offering unlocks to the Nokia 8 (2017) which only lasted for 2 months.

As for me carrying the Nokia banner, the community is officially a peer to peer platform where Nokia does not offer support. If you feel that my responses do not add any information, then you can contact Nokia via phone or chat from their support webpage.
I will take your feedback and not respond to your post anymore. Best of luck in finding somebody who understands the OS and fix your problem. You just denied help from one of the few persons who know why this issue happens and what the solution is. I'll repeat the solution one more time:
The SKUID in deviceinfo should be set properly for the Android One system to work. To do that you either need an elevated service bootloader; or else unlocked bootloader and root to pull the deviceinfo, modify it and write it back.

I already tried to unlink HMD Bootloader. And the app does not support android in this version.

And about the fastboot. It does not recognize my Nokia. Because the OEM option is locked. It is impossible to solve this problem in the way things are arranged. You can see that the cell phone itself does not allow me to access it to set it up.

Yes, I can ask my dealer to change the appliance. But it will be an extra expense and an extra headache being that I have no guarantee that the other handsets also do not have this problem. Not even my salesman has it. Because he also imported that from someone who was certainly the one who set the wrong screen!
  • @singhnsk

I am requesting the exchange of the device. Thank you very much for your support, and I do not claim your positioning. I just do not believe that this type of device policy is the best solution for Android devices. Even more that Nokia is a reference of good support and take good care of its customers. I think the platform should be open, and without that having to pay for the unlock code. I know how to install Android systems and I do this a long time ago. But with this policy, I can not solve my own problem, and I know the risks of importing. This is not an ethical positioning of a company that advertises the device as Global. Sorry about that I will continue to disagree.

I asked to change the device and test the new one. If this problem continues, I'll give up the purchase. (Which will be even more frustrating).

Thank you for your support, and for your patience.

Yes, the unlock situation is a problem. We have been petitioning them to offer bootloader unlocks. But it seems that there's no way we can force them to do that. They are probably not legally required to offer bootloader unlocks to the users. I wish they do better in this regard. We were promised of better support for bootloader unlocks, but they have spoken nothing after that.

The actual person flashing global ROMs to these phones is the leading culprit, because he is exporting something after tampering it and he is not tampering it right. I hope your new purchase comes out right.

HI, if you're ready to spend some cash for my effort, I can fix it for forever in a few minutes :) We just need correct SKU.
