hi! is there anyone currently using the Android Q Beta on their Nokia? any comments about it? is it super buggy? does it work normally with your day to day life?
and for @matteo.m, would OTA updates available for every new beta, and the eventual final version?
Camera isn't good. Jio Sim doesn't work for outgoing calls, no SMS, UPI payments not possible. Problems that I faced.
Other than this everything is fine.
If you have registered for beta testing then you will get the OTA update and the final version too. But can't say for every beta that Google releases.

I have purchased a Nokia 8.1 (TA-1128) purely because I need a device that is participating in the Android Q developer preview program My new device has been updated to the May Security Patch 00WW_2_59E_SP01 I am in the United Kingdom The device was purchased Sim-free so is not attached to any particular carrier When I try to add my device to access the preview build, all I get is an "IMEI not found" error
The IMEI has been entered correctly Can anybody offer any advice please? Thanks
It's been a while. The solution was rather easy if they wanted to provide that. And sad that no new build has been released to the device which was being recommended to the developers when the Android Q beta was announced. A developer would be willing to test his app with the newest possible builds and here we lost access to even the older one.
Dear HMD, this should be prioritized. Either don't be a part of the Developer Preview; else be prompt at updating the releases. You even have the right to push breaking changes and non-functional code since it is a developer preview.
I already tried, but got nowhere - "Android Q is being tested at the moment. Customers cannot use it at the moment" It didn't matter how many times I tried to explain that I've registered for the Nokia 8.1 Android Q developer preview, and am ready to be one of those testers with my supposedly eligible device purchased specifically for this purpose At the moment I feel robbed - this was a significant financial outlay The Nokia 8.1 is on every list of Android Q beta eligible devices

@singhnsk - are you saying that nobody has access to the beta build just now? As that is not stated anywhere that I can see?
Hi @hotfix, I searched the forum for your error message and the only other incident was for @BrendanR with their Nokia 2 for beta labs, maybe they can tell you how the issue was resolved (or not).
Another option is to start a new thread in this forum section and tag HMD_Laura, matteo.m or megan and they will hopefully help you out (though it may take a few days at least...).
Cheers
PS - Or I suggest returning the phone and getting another one.

Those who are already part of the Developer Preview have access to the existing build. I also have it mirrored to my Google Drive, but it will not work on the latest SP (due to timestamp). I believe that new signups for the Developer Preview are paused and your IMEI is not the real problem. Right now anybody trying to register a new device should be getting that error.
BTW @madbilly and @Argho Sarkar did you previously spot the dedicated forum section for the DP members before (LINK HERE)? Or is that a new addition. I see that only those logged-in users who are part of developer preview are able to access it.
If it is new, then a new build should be coming VERY SOON!

Surely it would be courteous if HMD could take two minutes to make a statement to that effect on the Developer Preview page, to prevent others like myself from purchasing a device in good faith
As it is, it looks like I might have to go "underground" to acquire the build. Not ideal

True! There's a similar situation for the bootloader unlocking. That's first result in Google and it says that HMD will allow unlocking on "certain" phones. Which ones? Nothing is mentioned. The reality of today is that no device is supported. A lot of buyers only realized after buying the phones.
For your case, I will just hope that a new build is pushed soon.

I can't access the link that you mentioned @singhnsk. Permission Problem is the outcome of opening that link
@Argho Sarkar Oh well.. Are you logged in using the same account which was used to signup for the Developer preview? It's strange. You should be seeing a page like screenshot below. Now i'm confused more. Am I the only one seeing it?

Yes I have logged in with the same account with which I have registered for Android Q DP, but still permission problem
May be the page that you mentioned @singhnsk is only visible to those who have roles of Android Developer Preview members because you have this role in your profile but @madbilly and I didn't have this role yet

Ah! Yes, that makes sense. But shouldn't all Developer Preview members be given this role? Why do I have it? I guess I am having it from the Nokia 7 Plus Developer Preview days then?
@hotfix i had the same problem. after consistently bothering Nokia support for a week and half, i sent back and saw that i could finally register my 8.1. right now, it's probably a build issue or something of the sorts. just hold tight

Thank you. I will do that for now. I see on the Android Developers Blog that the Pixel crowd are getting the beta 5 update today...
In desperation I even physically inserted SIMs from all of the major UK network providers - as if that was somehow going to magically unlock the gate to the Land of Q
I would send the 8.1 back and go and find myself a Pixel (I need to test these apps ASAP) - but annoyingly I really like it. It's a very fine phone indeed, for my purposes anyway, and will serve me well going forward - I think
Didn't have any problems. Used imei 1 and it accepted my local carrier. And I was able to download the tools etc. Just didn't have time yet to install.
