After the Oreo 8.0.0 update I cannot listen anymore to music for more than 30 or 60 minutes, because suddenly the music player app is killed. Tested with the PowerAmp and AIMP music apps. This is very annoying. Tried every solution I found on the internet: ex. soft reset, putting Battery optimisation to "Not Optimised" than soft reset, reinstalling the apps but to no avail.

I forgot to mention, restarting Android doesn't help either.
switched to ta-1003 now its better
I am in Europe and have the global variant TA-1021. But I have the same issue you have ie. background apps killed by the system after some time ...
Model -TA-1021
Build - 00WW_5_22A
Also seems good for me, TA-1025 00WW_5_22A. Tried playing music in Spotify and Pi Music Player for hours. Background Activity Cleaner was enabled, but the both apps were in the white list. Can you try to disable Background Activity Cleaner entirely?
Still the same issue with Background Activity Cleaner enalled/disabled. Tried Pi Music Player but was also killed after an hour approximately. Unbelievable, what application or process has the rights to kill a music player in the middle of a song ?
Yes - suffering from this issue as well. It's got to be some sort of battery saving feature gone awry. It only happens if you don't touch the phone for 30 - 60 minutes while a music app is playing (such as Spotify).
It's -extremely- frustrating. I run into this 2-3 times a day; at the gym, out on a run and even around the house. This never happened in Android 7.1, and it never happened with Oreo Beta. Only the official 8.0.0 brought this forward (I use, and have used, the phone in the exact same way for the past several months).
This is easily the most annoying feature my phone has ever made me deal with. If it were possible to roll back to Android 7.1 I would do that in a heartbeat, and I'm already looking forward to replacing my Nokia 6 with another phone.
I guess this is one of the downsides of getting updates too fast for HMD to bother testing them well enough.
Location: United States
Model: TA-1025
Android version: 8.0.0
Android security patch level: February 1, 2018
I'm having the same issue with Spotify and Podcast Addict.
Audio cuts off after 30-60 minutes of inactivity (screen off).
May possibly be related to the new "[app name] is running in the background" notification in Oreo.
May possibly be related to the audio volume issue reported at https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000016253/
It seems a widespread issue since Android 7.0 when Background Activity Cleaner was introduced. Just google about "background activity cleaner kills whitelisted apps". Wonder if wiping cache partition off would help?
The same thing is happening to me, with multiple apps. "EBT Music Player" and "PowerAmp".
This is a very serious issue. I will probably return the phone to amazon if I have no assurance that this bug will be fixed in a timely fashion.
Does anyone from Nokia want to comment on this?
This bug is a real PITA, I tried everything but to no avail ... I just heard from someone with a Nokia 8 using Orea 8.1 having the same issue.
Also someone in the Nokia 6 Betalabs reported the same issue:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000017345
It looks like this issue will linger on for some time ...
BTW, factory reset and clearing cache of Battery Protection App and Music Player doesn't help either.
Running Android 8.0.0/2018-feb-01 on TA-1021 (Nokia 6). I have similar issue listening to audio via spotify, vlc etc. via bluetooth, jack and speakers, that it stops/crashes silently after 30-60 minutes of passive usage.
Here is a log of what appears to be causing a recent crash:
Disabling Battery Optimization and wiping the cache partition via Recovery Mode also does not fix the issue.
Same issue. Cannot go back to Android 7 because I was not receiving text messages consistently. I use my phone to listen to music frequently. This issue is very frustrating. I am not pleased with Nokia's lack of response to these issues. If this issue is not fixed soon, I will be getting rid of this phone and I will never purchase another Nokia. My Lumia 640 works better than this. Maybe I should go back to using it.
The following workaround passed the test, as mentioned in the post by user1507808215403:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000017855
In short, install "Wake Lock Powermanager" app and enable PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK. Result is that no background services and apps are killed anymore because the CPU does not doze off.
In this case that's app (Spotify, etc) problem rather than Android. App should request partial wake lock when it starts and continue running while screen is off. Enabling partial wake lock permanently will drain battery quickly unless you don't forget to turn it off when finish listening music.
Btw, just noticed that Android kills Spotify on my phone as well within 30-45mins interval. Previously I did not notice that because I listen music only while running and it seems Runtastic app acquires partial wake lock temporarily.
I don't see a difference in battery life with or without partial wake lock enabled.
Based on one user's experience with the wake lock app, I'm tempted to update my music player app with optional wake locks.
Unfortunately I returned my phone to Amazon after I discovered this problem, so I cannot test it.
If anyone is interested in testing this, contact me.
Same problem here on TA-1033 : kills all music apps like Foobar2000, VLC, Mort Player and so on ...after 30 mins.
No setting really works!
Tried to go back to Android 7, but factory reset didn't work ... still Oreo on device ... ahhhh ...!
Same issue. Must be hundreds if not thousands of us! Please sort Nokia!
I've contacted Nokia via email and Twitter. I have not received a response yet.
Hopefully this will help you solve your issue... Although solution needs an update from nokia but this can be used as temporary solution

thx for the link to the "TechZ" article!
there is the headline "Check whether the Application killer is causing the music player to close" ... sorry, but i can't find a "Application killer". there is neither an app with this name nor a service or something like that.
the only "application killer" i know is that battery saving thing. No setting can be done to prevent that app to kill the music player. The wake lock app removes the symptom, but not the cause.
@user1519288044671
The article you posted says to "Check whether the Application killer is causing the music player to close", but doesn't describe how to check the application killer.
If it's possible to check which apps are being stopped by the application killer, I'd love to know how.
The problem is that background activity cleaner does not kill music apps. Playback just stops after some period of inactivity. Music app still present in the task list after stopping playback. Wonder if "loud Dolby" issue and this one are interconnected.
There is a parallel link apparently discussing the same issue:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000017855
Nokia have replied to me there that this is a known bug that will be fixed with next update. We'll see!
In the meantime a suggested workaround seems to be to install the Wake lock powermanager app from the Playstore and choose "partial wakelock' in the app. Works for me!
