Thanks everyone for the instructions here! I had the same issue on my Nokia 7.1 after the latest update and the steps here helped a ton!
I just came to this thread to add a "+1" of affected users. In my case it was a Nokia 7.1.
Dead as a brick. Tried all described workarounds. Can't even turn the damn thing off.
fastboot oem HALT
My mum just rung me up and her 7 Plus is dead with this problem so i have told her to take it back to EE, hopefully they can sort it out for her.
I saw you all may saw the link https://www.techmesto.com/possible-fix-nokia-smartphone-stuck-on-download-mode-after-ota-update/
I assume that you all have downloaded fastboot tool on your PC
If your device stuck on fastboot mode, use fastboot command as following:
hope this can help you all
so I was experimenting with my phone with OST I didn't flash any rom but when the phone was in fastboot mode and connected to the software I clicked Edit Phone Information:
After I clicked Edit Phone Information I got no results from the software and now the phone is turned off and unresponsive, it just vibrates once every 20 seconds.
The phone can't:
- be turned on
- be turned on in boot menu, factory reset and fastboot
- be connected to pc (apparently)
I kindly ask you, do know of any solution for this problem?
Thank you very much
I think this might help you. https://www.droidviews.com/nokia-online-service-tool-nokia-ost-tool/
It's impossible to connect the phone to the pc, the phone is in a loop, if I press power and vol down to connect to the pc in fastboot mode I can't do it because the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting very very quickly, the phone just vibrates once every 20 or so seconds
If possible, try with a different USB Cable so as to rule out cable fault in disconnections. If it is the same after that, then we have no choice but to take it to the service center.
My Nokia 8 also went on Download mode one morning. I was just using it on a phone call. After the call, i left it for half an hour, and when i came back , it was already stuck on download mode with the "powered by Android" image. I just bought it last year, and considering it was a flagship unit of Nokia, i am very very disappointed. I now regret buying a Nokia unit. i already tried all the tips i got online, including the changing of boot slots from a to b , but i got the failed message ''Slot change is not allowed in Lock State" when i issued the fastboot command. Can anyone pls help and guide me to be able to change slot to b, and fix this download mode condition?
