Hi @HMD_Laura, thanks, I really appreciate you making the effort to post this news on the forum, it shows that you and HMD value us as much as the cheerleaders/trolls on twitter

Personally, I think it's all reasonable but I'm surprised that the Sirocco is so far down the queue - it is a flagship, after all.

No. All the phones which are not on the list were launched with Android 7 and HMD only said they would deliver two OS updates to these phones* so 7+2=9, not 10

*as we know the Nokia 2 hasn't got Android 9 yet and it won't

Anyway, Android One program promises TWO major system upgrades and all of those phones you mentioned came with Android 7. They all got Android 8(.1) and Android 9 which makes it two and they are done.

This is why bootloader unlocking is crucial. Some people want to update their phones long after support ends, but sadly HMD won't give out a clear answer why they can't or wont allow it. If they can't then that's sort of understandable (as long as they're working on allowing it in the future), but if this decision was made solely on HMD's part then this whole thing smacks of planned obsolescence.

Start working on Symbian OS latest update with updated c and c++ libraries.... As we know that the Nokia 8 released in late August 2017, but it rolls out the phone slightly late in many region! So most of the owners have the phone in late 2017. Also, even the Android10 is going to release slightly late this year, we all know that the Google release the all-new Android on every August ! That is the reason why we have the expectation on having the released of Android 10 for Nokia 8.

More importantly, the specification on Nokia 8 is pretty much the same as Nokia 8 Sirroco. It would not be hard for Nokia to release a Andriod 10 for both Nokia 8 and 8 Sirroco!

I really hope that if the Nokia could reconsider the decision and release the Android 10 for Nokia 8 in future.

Hi @user1521769034246 I completely understand why you think that a phone released with Android 7 but after Android 8 was released should therefore get updated to Android Q since that will be launched less than two years after the phone was available to buy.... however, that's not what HMD said. HMD said two years of OS updates, so they're sticking by what they said. Also, it will be the same problem for the 7.1 next year and in two years time for the new phones which will be launched on next week.

I mentioned elsewhere that because the Sirocco will get Q this means it should not be difficult to get Q on the 8. Hence why I said before that our best chance of getting Android Q on the Nokia 8 is to support the T-Virus project on XDA. This is project that aims to take the Sirocco image and merge it with the 8 image, as far as I can remember, which will ultimately allow us to get Android Q on the Nokia 8.
