Hi @HMD_Laura,It's in the diary! But what time will it be @HMD_Laura?I can't wait to see what's revealed. However my bets are on 7.2, 6.2 and 5.2 smartphones as well as new non-touchscreen phones: candy bar T9, flip phone T9 and possible either another candy bar or a QWERTY format... I think one of them will be a retro phone, probably the flip phone.Highly unlikely possibilities: touchscreen phone running Sailfish OS! Less unlikely but still improbably, a non-touchscreen phone running Sailfish OS! One of the non-touchscreen phones might run KaiOS, but I suspect one of HMD's other OSes is more likely.I see that Juho Sarvikas was tagged... but that's not his username, it should be @juho
(does he ever read the forum?). I'm also wondering what's happened to @matteo.m, it's been a long time since he's spoken to us here.
@Kartik Gada I agree, what's the hashtag this time?! Until we know, I agree #BringItOn!Cheers

Come on HMD make one phone running the OS from your own country and from your own roots
Possible launches: Nokia 7.2 (recently shown by ZEISS employee) 5.2 and 6.2 (already late), The iconic Nokia 2720 Flip in the originals series, one or two more feature phones.
Yes, #BringItOn 😉3 -
@HMD_Laura seems to have received a fresh supply of red bullJokes apart, thanks for spending your time here with us and giving us more updates than ever! I appreciate it more than ever.Issue: The links above do not work. You probably forgot to add an https to their beginning. I hope you fix em soonOpinion:The leaks of Nokia 7.2 are appealing. Well, that means that a part of your secret is already out
I'll wait for the remaining part of the story (unless more leaks happen and dictate the story before the book is launched).
Rant:The software will likely keep my joy aside though. Unless nothing new happens to the software and new things are introduced, it will be more like the same phone, same experience in a new housing. When will we finally start seeing a variety of choices? Bootloader unlocked phones, Nokia experience phones and sure some Android One phones too?8 -
I Hope upcoming phones will run Android 10 out of the box . ?
And are you highlighting the hashtag #ShotOnNokia by Showcasing some beautiful photos captured by fans at the launch event ?
And don't say there is a contest for those watching live event from your official Channels 😃👍9 -
So hyped for that back design alone.
I hope HMD ups their marketing game this time. #MakeNokiaAdsSexyAgain

There's still no any Pure Android Nokia Tablet ( Copied content: HMD Global Oy is the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand for phones & tablets. ) Any Tab?
My guess

Hi @user1516119250933 I also think there won't be a tablet, and actually I wouldn't be very excited about that if it was a plain- sorry "pure" (!) Android tablet. If it was running something more exotic then I'd be interested2

Well, we know the people are asked to arrive for the event at 4:00pm because of the leaked invites, but this doesn't tell us when the livestream will start:In the meantime, here are some teaser vidsFrom Finland to Berlin with LoveWhat nexthttps://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1164188365450727426/pu/vid/1280x720/oolioNagT2zpa9g8.mp4?tag=10
That video shows outlines of all the phone models that HMD has released so far.... but not the ones to be released next week.... what a tease!

I don't really know what the mean by Nordic design, except that is sounds good for marketing! The chief designers are both British, as far as I know
(although one or maybe both are now freelance, so it's unclear who is really the head of design now).
I prefer metal or plastic backs, but don't mind glass so long as it's as strong as either of those two. The only real downside with glass is that it makes the phones quite unrepairable due to the amount of glue used.Cheers5 -
@madbilly But hey, glass makes things more manageable at times too. Nokia 6.1 Plus is much easier to disassemble and work on its back vs. something like Nokia 6.1. It is a good probability that you damage the display of the 6.1 while trying to disassemble it just for replacing the battery. You need to change display, work on the front, you need to change something else, work on the back. I like these 2 entry points vs one which needs the display off. Something on my OnePlus 3 I liked was that it as a metal housing, but the 2 bottom screws would allow the thick metal shell to get off and I get the phone with display intact, ready to be operated for repair from either side. But yes, i am not happy with the use of glass at the back. It makes the phone much less durable because now there are 2x chances of a glass to break when the device fells. But maybe more business opportunity for the companies since there are more chances of customers coming for a paid repair 😅On that topic, is it common for companies to deny the entire warranty if some part of the device breaks? Say my back glass is cracked and my USB port stops working? Or say my display stops working? It is super weird for me to see such a thing happening because HP recently replaced my laptop's mainboard even if there's a pretty noticeable crack on the speaker grill.

Guys! Get ready for another dead and embarassing launch event. 😊
Quho will be the incharge of this all. 😈5 -

Hi @singhnsk, you're right, the materials don't mean much if the construction method does not allow easy disassembly. Something that is very well demonstrated by the new Fairphone 3My metal N8 is easy to disassemble, even if the battery is officially not "user-serviceable", I think the disassembly is very similar to the Oneplus 3 - unscrew and slide out.Cheers1

The person who writes the keynote speech should also be changed. 😁
But Quho felt humiliated after knowing that people admire Werkalla's presentation more than his presentation and then he made sure that from now onwards every HMD's age old phone will only be announced by him no matter how embarrasing it will be.
This time again we will have to bear Quho. TBH I feel that Quho and Florian both, most of the times, on the stage are dumbfounded.
I would love to see engineers presenting the phones but ohh... Wait... HMD doesnot have engineers. It only has Quho who is multi dimensional- CPO, Marketer, Engineer, Camera designer, expatiator, etc.
:(Yawn) Sorry Quho.1 -

Nothing bad in him explaining his products but now that you have been doing it for 2 years the speech at the event feels repetitive with more focus on build quality. Explain more about the product and not just the build.
And yes, I would love Banana Blue as a name of a colour on some of their upcoming phone. 😁
We have Juho Sarvikas Sticker pack on Telegram😅

Hello All,
I am betting on Nokia 7.2 but hey HMD no more 7.2+ it was nightmare. I love my 7.1 and 7.2 well I may or may not but design is gorgeous.
I would also like to see Nokia doing a bit more marketing, not high spend ads on TV but more on digital channels.
I wish HMD and Nokia all the best. I don not want to repeat but Nokia is a like a family member a nice guy and I love this brand since 2001.
Love you Nokia.
With best regards,
Prasenjit

Well @Kartik Gada, let's say it is you on the stage and you have the Nokia 8.1 to launch. What special will you say about the device?Presentation is an art. You can give the same product to 2 different persons and both will have their own way of presenting it, while both will present the same thing and state the same facts.Juho's presentations might not be repetitive, but I see a lot of screen reading and lack of words to support what's received from the screen. That's commonly seen when you're either not interested in the product and there's no passion in showing what you have made, or you do not know a lot about it, or there's nothing much to say about it because there's nothing special in there. I believe the current situation is all three of them.Juha on stage can fix 2 of them, but not the third. There is still more unique things that HMD needs to do, which will give them at least some talking points when hitting the stage. Can't forget the presentation and the product Nokia made to jump into the WP8 arena - the Lumia 920.Meanwhile, love products, innovation and class, not just a label.3

It wasn't just about brand back then. They had products that made people their Fans. Without using the products and experiencing the service you cannot become a Fan of a brand. Now it's different where HMD is using their brand and I just want them to be what Nokia was but sadly I haven't seen much.

There's no need to make fun of people's names, let's stop that right now.For the 8.1 I would talk about the camera because as a dual camera solution it is one the few where the main camera is actually well specced (whether it fulfils its potential or not I don't know) - good sensor, relatively large pixels, largish aperture, OIS, ZEISS lens and the Qualcomm ISP, which are all the tools it needs to have a great camera solution.I would talk about the display, because from what I remember the display is really really nice. The design is really nice too. Okay, I'm not generally a fan of glass sandwiches but the different colour options for the 8.1 really work well, although I wish the iron (dark red) one had a little more flare/flash/pop about it.And although it's a not a flagship SoC it still performs very nicely. Some people who have owned both say that it works much better than the 8, which on paper is a better specced phone (except maybe the camera). And I would of course say that it is Android One, blah blah updates blah blah, because that's the message that HMD is pushing, so that's the message I would have to give. Now, is the above innovative? Ground-breaking? No, but it was never really meant to be was it. Just another good product with the Nokia badge on it which HMD hope will sell loads, and if you look at which phone has the most discussions on this forum I think you will see that they did a pretty good job with the 8.1.Back to IFA 2019. It would be nice to have a bit of a change with the launch presentations, I for one am bored stiff of the Google Assistant guest that they keep bringing out to make us all go to slee- I mean tell us about the benefits of giving all our personal data t- I mean Google Assistant which helps us live our lives to the fullYou get my point I think - there's no point bringing out a guest to talk about something unless it really is interesting, so please don't drag out a poor engineer for them to try and be enthusiastic about the middle-of-the-road imaging solution they've managed to design with the tiny budget they had because they would rather HMD had given them more budget to make something really really interesting! As for who are the main presenters. The audience is not actually only us enthusiasts, or the media. The audience is mainly their business partners - network operators and retailers, the people who will actually sell the vast majority, >99% of the phones which HMD make. These are the people that HMD need to convince, and those people want to see the heads of the company showing their confidence in the new models, which is why we see Florian and Juho.Anyway, what about that teaser on Twitter! I think that's obviously a new non-touchscreen phone, probably a candy-bar type like the 105, probably the rumoured 110, probably this: http://www.tenaa.com.cn/WSFW/LicenceShow.aspx?code=7ZkCQoPz3OMB0TG+IhgeKTKf3AZucyVCIkuKGOcD2xwfCv11yu5APrlifxPrXdqZbut also maybe this, which is more like the 220 4G: http://www.tenaa.com.cn/WSFW/LicenceShow.aspx?code=zE1dXVAIaKbqW8Dm8yGNhAwO2jLMCGvj/DfTiUP2Ca+katLHuevQ9thiNFG9zrfICheers

Hi @Kartik Gada, maybe, but the reason I don't think it is that one is because the 2720 had straight sides I think, whereas those teaser photos show a phone with curved sides, more like the 105.Cheers1
