A bit hidden away is this good advice for both camera apps by @user389: "pressing the volume-up button"

(Perhaps everyone on this Nokia 8 forum knows this little casting tip, but it took me quite a long time to find it.)

Casting my Nokia 8 screen to my smart TV is a nice way to look to my 'Google Photos'. Perfectly possible since Android Pie without having to install a chromecast dongle. No need for activating 'Developer options' any more too. Start yout TV set. Long press on the casting symbol on the Quick Settings panel of your Nokia.
Thanks for the tip: @JD1999 (in forum Nokia 7 plus, December 2018).
  • My nokia 8 cam doesn't work at all.It all started few months ago when i i open thae camera and start clicking it doesn't click the picture at all and says cant save this image this is the case with stock cam and when it comes to gcam same situation when i click a photo it doesn't even the shutter goes blank and doesn't work.
If i restart mobile it works for 2 or 3 shots and thereafter the same issue continues.I dnt know what happened but its very frustrating

You seem to have done only a restart to conquer the problem.
So you may try the following steps - after each step you restart your phone and look if the problem is solved.

1 Deinstall the gcam to find out if there is a conflict between the two apps - restart. Only reinstall the gcam after you have solved the problem.
2 Reset the standard camera app (in the settings of the app) - restart
3 Reset the Google Photos app in Settings - Apps & notifications - Photos - Storage: clear storage & clear cache - restart
4 Restart in safe mode - to find out if there is a conflict with another app.

This is same as saying "uninstall Netflix to see if there is any conflict with stock camera".  Gcam is not communicating with or using stock camera app in any way, so there can't be any conflict between them. Same goes for Google Photos. Camera apps are not using Google Photos to save files to the phone storage.

    3 Reset the Photos app.
(Don't forget to back up your photos before you do this.)
Is naming it Google Photos a mistake? If you have a Nokia 8 the Google Photos app is not a separate app but part of the (standard) Photos app. Just try to (re)download Google Photos from the Play Store ... They have the same icon too ...

Another possible culprit: an SD-card. So if you use one ...
    5 Remove SD card.

(Theoretically any app can have bugs that may have a consequence on other apps on a phone, although I agree that there is little chance that Netflix might be the cause of a malfunctioning camera app. So indeed, don't waste your time on that possible culprit!)

  • Sure. Whatever.
  • guys i want to talk about shooting video with nokia 8 , #nokia8videoshooting

i use pro cam x and compaired all of available apps procam x is phenomenal you can change shutter speed iso when shooting too! quality is awesome. i am using nokia 8.

i installed all working apks from celso azevedo. you must see procam x on android too. i have payed version of procam

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMEnDA2DAic

    this video explains shutter speed.

for 30 frames per second you must use at least 60 shutter speed for good quality video.

our camera can do 200 iso good too. screen light pointed on my face i tried every single one apps all resolutions and all frame rates. 42000 bps or 42 mpbs is the sweet spot for recording 4k. i checked my sony camera records 1080p 30fps with 14000 bps (i checked these with mediainfo software for windows)

i weighed all video qualities with my eyes on pc monitor 27 inch. everything looks good on phone screen. filmic pro ,pro shot , asus camera ,footej camera, free camera cinema fv-5 ,bacon camera , google camera imports from celso azevedo. NO CAMERA SOFTWARE LETS YOU CONTROL THE SHUTTER SPEED 90 PERCENT OF THEM DOESN'T LET YOU CONTROL ISO EITHER! Only procam x lets you do it. i have both payed and lite free version. both does the job.

the information i gave here even unknown by the nokia hmd . because they don't care . they even removed black and video lens video shooting mode from the phone. they don't let us shoot 60fps 1080p too. if you are reading hmd give us shutter speed options and bitrate options to shoot our videos best quality. it is important that you lock exposure (iso and shutter speed) and focus. they don't let you do that too. you will be amazed how your camera shoots beautiful video and you won't upgrade it for so much time which they wouldn't like.

i did my tests on low light. here is my last test video

ps: i used adobe lightroom camera too. photos look good.

    Hey Guys,

now that I have been a proud (and very satisfied) owner of a Pixel 3a for three weeks, I can contribute a direct camera comparison. In the following you see the same scene

    - once with the original camera app of Nokia 8

    - once with this Google Camera Port: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/P3v11.4.31_GoogleCamera_6.2.024.apk

    - once with the Pixel 3a.

All images are unprocessed. I'm not sure if I like the Nokia 8 with the GCam or the Pixel better ...

How can I delete my comments ? 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

  • Is it possible to modify nokia camera app so that EIS (electronic image stabilization) is disabled? Standard camera app use EIS+OIS in all video resolution, except in uhd.
