Have you resolved the USB-C port quality/design issues resulting in charging failures of 7 Plus model?2
-
Why again Old processors on Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 with Overpricing 😐
2 -
Will the 6.2 and 7.2 be the first HMD phones where you provide detailed change logs with software updates? Or will you continue with the unhelpful "Security patch, UI enhancements and stability improvements" comments?Cheers4
-
The Android space is starting to fragment, the first signs of fractures are starting to appear, caused by the further success of Microsoft in Android apps and the USA's decision to ban Huawei from using Google Playe Services etc. What made you decide to continue with the plain Android One approach on the 6.2 and 7.2 rather than provide an exciting and interesting user experience which draws on the Nokia heritage?Cheers3
-
Since the 6.2 and 7.2 have such great camera hardware how come you decided not to provide a xenon flash for them? This would have given users a great alternative to your already great night-mode which unfortunately requires that people at parties stay still when taking photos whereas a xenon flash would allow us to really capture the moment of them embarrassing themselves on the dance floorCheers2
-
Which company is the ODM for the 6.2 and 7.2?Cheers2
-
Please can you talk us through the lifecycle of development for the 6.2 and getting them to market, and how they are managed once in the market? For example, how long ago were designs and specs for these phones first produced? When did hardware development begin? When were first prototypes produced? How did the specs change along the way, which features were dropped?Pleas can you also say how different parts of HMD are involved in this process? E.g. which departments are responsible for what?Once the phones are being sold and have been released in all markets what happens then? Which part of HMD is responsible for ongoing support, particularly monitoring hardware failures and producing software updates?Cheers4
-
With the 6.2 and 7.2 is the software now being produced in-house by HMD, or by a direct contractor for HMD, or is it still being produced by a subsidiary of or contractor to the ODM company?Cheers3
-
As you are surely aware the community have been asking for years for HMD to release a "software recovery tool" which allows customers to recover bricked devices (this does still sometimes happen with OTA updates unfortunately). The 6.2 and 7.2 will be very popular products so please can you tell us if HMD will release a recovery tool for these phones? If not, please can you explain the technical reasons why this is not possible, as so far we have not been able to work out what has prevented HMD from providing software which will surely reduce the number of warranty claims and demands on local Nokia care centres.Cheers3
-
As the 6.2 and 7.2 have such versatile camera hardware you must be looking forward to seeing how far you can develop the camera app to take advantage of it. How soon can we expect to see HMD start to seek community feedback on updates to camera app via the beta labs programme similar to how Nokia used to do this with the Symbian and Lumia phones?Cheers2
-
The dedicated night mode is a welcome addition. At the other end of the shooting-spectrum, how come HMD have still not added a dedicated action mode to the available presets in the 6.2 and 7.2? For example, the aforementioned parties as well as sports would benefit from this preset.Cheers1
-
Will the 7.2 and 6.2 be launched in China or will only phones made by FIH Mobile be launched there?Cheers0
-
Please can you tell us what activities took place in which HMD offices around the world to bring the 6.2 and 7.2 from the drawings board to market? Who did what in London, Espoo, Dubai, Shenzhen and Taiwan?Cheers2
-
What is the most efficient way we (the community) can inform HMD of common, widespread issues and feature/breaking bugs with the 6.2 and 7.2? What about dedicated bug tracker on the forum be helpful?Cheers
1 -
What involvement did ZEISS have in the development of the 7.2? What was their contribution? Did they have any involvement in the 6.2? As an imaging consultant?Cheers4

Hi Miika.
You forgot something. Maybe it's more beautiful when a NOKIA Phone specially 6.2 and 7.2 use a "XENON FLASH" instead of Dual-LED Flash.
May I ask that in the future if you'll given a Chance to design a NOKIA Phones again you'll be use Xenon Flash?5 -
What is video recording frame rate in 4K and 1080P resolution on Nokia 7.2?2

Hello team,
Thanks a ton for this opportunity to communicate directly with designer of new Nokia phones.
I'm Nokia 6.1 plus user which having similar glass at back like new 7.2 & 6.2 having. In terms of design, curv and durability is awesome and can't be compared with phones of other brands. But only one small problem I felt is the glass at back is too sleepery. Why don't team think about some changes with existing design?
And why Nokia is still stucked on 30fps and 60fps slow motion? And that too with poor quality of video. This must need to look for upcoming phones.5 -
Hi Miika Mahonen! Once again a nice moment to have somebody from HMD to talk. I like the design of the Nokia 7.2. I do have a feq questions. I'll divide them to give some choice to those who might like emPolymer composite: Is this a new material RnD under HMD (even partially?) or has it been used by others in the past? My memory reminds me of a very similar outer texture and feel of the chin on the Huawei Honor 6 which I owned several years back. Also, where is the metal used and which metal (is it aluminum?)? Does the metal go 360-degrees underneath the polymer material? And is weight the only concern to go with the Polymer or were there other reasons? Does polymer offer more than the metal except for reducing the weight?5
-
Nokia Logo: I have my concerns about the technology/process used to imprint the Nokia logo. Both on front and the back. The logo isn't the same great quality as I see on my Nokia 8.1, maybe due to me not having a preference for that dual-material stuff used to crave the logo . Are you trying something different there? The front logo is also a bit extra visible versus that seen on the 8.1 and it can interfere during media consumption. One more thing, is the back logo underneath the glass? Or is it outside or is it somewhere in the mid? Rubbing my fingers over the logo area gives a slightly different (smoother) feel as compared to the rest.4

Hi Miika Mahonen!!!
Why haven't you switched to small frames around the display and without a notch? There is no HMD product with such a display yet. Can we expect such a device in the near future?
Thanks3 -
I have some questions, hope you could answer them all. About the polymer frame, so is it polycarbonate or aluminium, or is it hybrid? And, what inspired you to give the phones a circular camera module? Was it the Lumia 1020 and 830? And why no dedicated shutter button? Just intrigued by the fact that none of your phones have any4

Why are there no proper cases for the Nokia 7.2 other than simple tpu cases?3
-
Hi Miika,I see that you are also the designer of the 800 Tough and 2720 4G Flip, nice workOut of the three designs (6.2/7.2, 800 and 2720) which was your favourite? And which one are you most happy with the end result?Cheers

Tough questionWhen will you publish the environmental profiles for the 6.2 and 7.2? https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/environmental-profilesIn particular, use of restricted substances, which regulations were complied with (including California proposition 65), whether conflict minerals were used, charger energy rating and power consumption and how much of the phone's materials can be recycled? These environmental profiles do include some social impact considerations, but they don't go far enough, so it's also important to know about the use of child labour in the mining of raw materials and fair wages and treatment in the manufacturing and assembly factories - where can I find information about how HMD ensures these? How much consideration do you give to these factors when you are designing a phone? What compromises do you make to the design, materials and components to reduce the socio-environmental impact beyond what is necessary to meet regulations? Are you happy with the end result or do you think HMD could have done more to reduce the impact?Cheers

Recently we have seen an increase in the number of cases where an HMD smartphone is sent for warranty repair and no spare parts are available so the phone is replaced with a newer model. How long will spare parts for the 6.2 and 7.2 be available? If these phones are available in California, how will you ensure spare parts are available for 7 years? https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=CIV§ionNum=1793.03Cheers0

This one seems quite important and also technical. Hoping for an answer. As asked in this thread, how does the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 on the Nokia 7.2 accept a 48MP sensor wherein the max support by that CPU is limited to 25MP single camera. The 7.2 uses 3 of them, so the supported capture should further reduce. How does the 48MP mode actually works in this case, especially that it can also deliver a RAW.The 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP is engineered to support capture of up to 25 megapixels with zero shutter lag, and offer smooth zoom, fast autofocus and true-to-life colors for improved image quality.5
