Show your support to add Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 to the supported devices list of Google ArCore

Fellow Community Members,

Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 are fully capable devices for running AR applications and harnessing the full potential of the Google's ARCore Platform. But, the devices are not in the list of Google's ARCore's supported devices. Please show your support from this discussion by mentioning @HMDLaura and @WesleyLee to inform HMD Global to provide the necessary features in these two phones. Without ARCore, the users of these phones are unable to fully utilize such a beautiful hardware.

    I got reply from the Nokia support team.

    >According to the information I received from our relevant department I have to inform you that Nokia 7.2 hasn't been advertised as an AR Core compatible device and currently we haven't got official information if this feature will be available. For more information regarding AR Core compatible devices please check the following link: https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/supported-devices

    I guess we need to do additional advertise for Nokia and let other people know about "excellent" support before they bought their devices.

    I regret buying this phone, instead of the Pixel 3a. Beside the bug, that I is shutting down every time it is fully charged, the missing ARCore feature kills the support for apps like Minecraft Earth.
    Also Google Stadia is only available for Pixel devices, what a pity!

    Fellow Nokians,

    Do not lose your hopes. Just keep tweeting your demand of ARCore Support on Nokia 7.2 and let the officials @HMDLaura and her team listen to our voice right from this forum.

    So it is worse than Nokia 7.1 which supports arcore. if they don't add it soon I will simply never buy another Nokia phone. Why do I have to check all these things before buying a phone which should be an update to 7.1. I checked the hardware which made it hard enough to choose the 7.2.

    It is really frustrating as it was added as an update to the Nokia 8. It just felt that AR Core would come as standard on the next flagship. Even the phones in the mid-high range should have it. It's really baffling as to why it was only on Nokia 8 (did other Nokia phones get it?)

    I don't see anything wrong in the answer from support?

    You buy a phone as it is. If ARcore will be included in the phone, the better will be. I cannot understand why people are saying "I will never buy another Nokia phone" if there are Nokia phones that are listed as supporting the feature.

    I am a customer, I expect the 7.2 to be better than the 7.1. I expect to be able to run the same apps I was using before. Which it is technically more than capable of btw, that's the phone 'as it is'. As I said: Why do I have to check all these things before buying a phone which should be an update to 7.1. Next time it will be some other implementation detail I overlooked. So Nokia is not the right brand for me, they will just say they didn't promise I could run the same apps. But they didn't warn me either, since I would have stayed far away from Nokia phones. Therefore I will never buy a Nokia phone again. It is not that hard to understand.

    At least I suppose to here some adequate response from the support team ,  @HMDLaura and @WesleyLee .

    I don't know if they are going to contact google regarding Arcore support or not.

    I expects more with android one phone and their manufacturers.

    If it is ok with you - no problem , but it is not with me.

    The inclusion of ARcore is not solely a manufacturer's decision. There are at least 2 parties playing here, not to mention that inclusion of features, updates etc are usually also agreed with operators.

    Anyway, the phone is ARcore capable and for now you can sideload and install it from external sources.

    Yes , agree , but at least they must send request to the google.

    Yes , I know this, but external sources can't be trusted and I want to receive updates OTA.

    Very true. Sideloading the Google Play Services for ARCore works well on Nokia 7.2.

    I just bought 6.2 for my son for him to have a minecraft earth which requires arcore. The website doesn't clearly list whether or not it is. However, I found a source saying 6.1 supports arcore so I felt confident that 6.2 as a newer phone would do so as well.


    Apparently I can sideload both arcore and minecraft earth and both work just fine, so to me it feels that 6.2 hasn't just been ackwledged by Google or hmd as a compatible device.


    Please get this addressed. I don't feel comfortable sideloading any apps!

    Nokia 6.2 is a great phone, nearly perfect in so many ways. I really wish ARCore would be added officially. Please do that for your loyal customers, guys!
