Your favourite Nokia Phones Community moment
Hi y’all
This week is THE week – two years ago we launched the new community forum. In our first celebration post we looked at some stats, today we want to be a bit nostalgic and look back at some fond moments of the community.
When looking at the stats here the very first welcome thread created by Mr. Juho Sarvikas himself is still the most commented thread, followed by the World Photography Day 2019, which is honestly still one of our favourite threads in the community. We loved the passion our Nokia Phones family showed for this contest and all the wonderful entries we received, and of course all the positivity and support you all showed for each other. In general, it makes us very happy to see how the Nokia Phones Community tries to support each other within the community. Fact is it is a peer to peer community and it lives from the participation of the users and we are super thankful that you are so supportive to each other. While being aware that not everything is perfect in the community we are grateful to have you around and that you stick with us. We look forward to the next years 😀.
Now we want to know, what is your favourite experience or moment in the community? Who are your favourite peeps around? What do you like most about being part of the Nokia Phones Community? What changes would you like to see?
Happy 2nd Community anniversary to all of you!
Best regards,
Laura

First of all, Happy 2nd Community Anniversary! & I still don't know how these two years passed in community but feels like we've started yesterday.
My most favorite moment in the community is when I got a chance to share the review of Nokia 7.2 as well as the badges which I went on earning motivated me to go on and on.
I love all the diverse folks around me who are united by the brand which is always Connecting People. To be sorted, they're @nokianchetan @singhnsk @chiraggohil @HMDLaura @dipankar paul & a lot more.
I like most about being part of the Nokia Phones Community is I am on a platform where I can raise my concern, leave a feedback and at the same time appreciate whatever is the praiseworthy.
The major change which I wish to see is to have a dedicated, user friendly - A Nokia Phones Community Mobile Phone App.
Thank you! 😊

Hi @HMDLaura @madbilly @singhnsk
Thank you for have a community for Nokia phones, which is good thing.
But few more suggestion to improve:
1> HMD Officials should give replies for the user concerns/problems.
2> Release recovery tool for end user devices, so user who have knowledge of using tool will repair his device. no need to hang around service center.
3> Do provide the bootloader unlock for the devices , so that user can use the device until its last.

Looking for a compact metal unibody device like Nokia 8 (One hand operable), is there any up comings??

Got to know so many good people from all over the world. That is what I liked most about being part of the Nokia Phones Community. 😃
7 -
Thanx Bro 😊

Congrats on your 2nd anniversary. You want to know what I like most in this community? The fact that users rarely ever get a reply from official Nokia staff to their posts. Especially when reporting bugs. Users just trying desperately to help each other, while there's no resposne from Nokia. Take a look at my profiles posts, and you'll see almost all of them have zero replies from staff. Sorry, but this is more like a "have fun" forum of the users, rather than a serious support community.
So, go and get a nice example of serious support from companies like Xiaomi (was my previous phone) etc, and make this a real support community, rather than posting all the time threads about how happy and joyfull you are about this beautiful community!

This is my first joined Nokia community before that I didn't have any idea about any mobile brands communities. I went to the service center whenever I faced any problem with mobile phones. I watched YouTube videos sometimes for software issues. Before Vanilla Community, I saw community for beta labs and updates information. In my first place, I have interacted more about Nokia 2 OS updates in the Nokia community.
After that, I have upgraded to Nokia 6.1 and I was complaining about live bokeh on rear camera in the community. Accidently, I got information about gcam in the community as well as on social media. Before that, I didn't have any idea and never heard about gcam. I got the best gcam😍 for Nokia 6.1 and I was so impressed about picture quality so I posted about this gcam link in our community at that time.
Runner up of the first Nokia community competition (Dubai Event) is a special moment for me. I didn't have any idea about such things and never imagined.
Even though it's a peer to peer community. We have many other good community members and They have good knowledge of software, technology, networks and many other things. I got good information from them many times.
@madbilly @singhnsk are my favourite community members also appreciate the work of all other community members too. Right now, I am looking forward to experience Android 11 on Nokia 8.1. I will share my experience in the community.
Sometimes, User doesn't get any acknowledgement to their bugs/issues. So, In future, The technical support team should have to monitor things related to bugs and critical issues if they don't monitor bugs thread in the community.

Hi @HMDLaura! Congratulations!
My favorite moments in order should be as below. I'm listing down 4 because 1 is just not enough for the time I've spent at the forum 🤗
- The trip to Dubai - My awesome, unexpected & unforgettable moment ever is the surprise trip to Dubai and being present at the Nokia 8.1's launch event and also the chance to meet and interact with some other fans from India and other countries.
- The AMA(s) - I love interacting and learning more about the people, their thinking, vision, their plans etc and it has been amazing every time we got some answers to user-generated questions. Thank you Miss Admin for hosting the AMAs and for being a bridge between the users and the people who work on the products. Exactly the kind of discussions that excite me the most!
- SuperUser! - Being a fan of discussions, I hate spam. I am glad to be a part of the SuperUser group who help in removing spam and organizing general threads.
- When @juho was here - Hah! That was a special moment too when Juho Sarvikas used his community account and posted the 2 threads. I wish he visited the community again, maybe that wouldn't mark his existence here a memorable moment :P
Favorite peeps you ask? I have loved interacting with everybody who came here and discussed problems, solutions or just ranted in general. I'll list down some extraordinary faves, since I can't list down everybody.
- @madbilly - Our encyclopedia, this calm guy is known to uncover some of the bizarre things really very well. He spends special time writing down and balancing his words - a skill which I'll never manage to acquire. He's probably still the one with highest number of total discussions on the forum :) It is an amazing time at the community when this guy is active here (find some time for us again sir).
- @HMDLaura - Not trying to butter, this lady is somehow still getting the forum to work! She understands, talks, gets the message across to the web developers and is the go to source for global news at the community apart from handling the forum backend. Since most employee accounts at community are no longer used by the owners, she's one sweet gem whom I hope we won't lose. Thank you, madam :-)
- @dipankar paul Oho, another spot for an employee here! Mr. Paul is serious about his job of bringing engagement to the community (and probably ORM too?). He's our our source for the India specific updates and the contests with decent gifts 🎁! I wish the contests go global and we get even more quizzes (Yes, I envy all those who take great photos but maybe can't beat me when it comes to detailed knowledge about Nokia xD), competitions and updates from him. He's also our stage to get the user feedback over to the management (Nokia hoodies where, sir? 😝). Thank you for doing what you do, Sir. Looking forward to more! :-)
- @Kartik Gada - This buddy became a good friend eventually to a point that I can trust him with precious things as well and somebody whom I'm definitely meeting whenever I visit Mumbai. He's a sincere Nokia fan and with interest in photography. Must accept that I have learned some camera tricks from him 🤗 even though photography to me is nothing beyond framing and pressing the shutter
- @nokianchetan - He's the most famous Nokia photographer you'd see on social media. He's always seen with some unique and breathtaking shots whenever there's a photography thread 🙈 Keep up the great work, buddy!
- All the buddies and bois who have made the discussions fun and interactive: @iamkrishna08, @nikhilkunwar0904, @user123, @Lior Levi, @Bharath KB, @nitinkachare, @DibyaXP, @user123, @Lazysince1995 (sup boi?), @Jocke.Sve, @NIMISHA and the various others whom I failed to recall while writing this. Thank you everybody for being here and engaging :D
What do I like the most?! Obviously the fact that there's still free speech here. Whether the products are good or bad, I'm glad that the community has allowed the users to pen their words without any kind of censoring (exceptions of inappropriate content or language). It is probably not good for the ORM, but the ideal way to balance the negativity is to pour more positivity instead of deleting the negatives. Hail you, honest and understanding community team! I wouldn't have been active here if there were mods deleting threads just because they discussed how a product does not work well. I've seen other good communities where negatives are often censored to showcase a good environment.
Changes... changes I wanna see? Let's list a few!
- More employee activity: Will remain my #1 always. I know the community is considered as more of a peer to peer platform instead of a direct support point. But there should still be more employees parking few minutes of their time here to help the users. A sweet example is (was) about the missing October and November update on Nokia 8.1 in India. If there was anybody from Software Updates team, he would have told the users why the issue is happening and when will it get a fix. Some things are too widespread that the standard chat support or Nokia care levels will never fetch any results unless somebody from a dedicated team takes a look. We used to have them several years ago at Nokia Support Discussions under Nokia Oyj.
- A better mobile app!: A web wrapper is not the ideal setup for an app for the mobile-first and digital world that we are seeing. There's a need for a dedicated app which relies on APIs and renders perfectly on smartphones in a simple, clean and user friendly way. The mobile website is usable, yes, but not with a great experience. A dedicated app will also be able to deliver push notifications for comment replies, tags, quotes etc.
- Bug reporting section: I've always wished we had this. There's no clear way for any user to report a bug/issue and include the steps to reproduce and/or include bug reports. If the technical team doesn't have the details, then how will it even work on fixing the bugs? A submission via the customer support desk is possible, but not feasible since even it adds an unneeded level to the process and can't collect the logs as well. Ofcourse this also needs a bug hunting team which could evaluate the logs and have the developers do something :D
- Return of beta labs, dev previews & private feedback: The only way to build reliable products is to test more. And the golden steps to delivering a stable software is to do more beta tests with different use cases and app combinations. The test devices which are deployed within the company are often reset to the same default setup which means app compatibility and bugs will never be properly tested. Having a pool of willing users who help with the testing will help improve the overall software quality by a good degree. Of course if the issues highlighted are addressed. We used to have such sections and a enrollment process in the former days and everything got shattered in 2019. I hope it is resurrected.
That's all from me for now. I have more to say, probably next time. I hope we see more improvements before we hit the next anniversary.

Hi all 👋
Thanks @nitinkachare, @singhnsk and @user123, you're some of my favourites too 😊 as are folks like Nicest Man on the Forum @Kartik Gada, fellow super-user @Lazysince1995, the ever-funny (and cheeky verging on naughty) @MrBelter, other former long-term Nokia 8ers and photography encyclopedias @martin.fd and @user389, @jdi000 for always trying to help people with their Android 10 updates and Nokia UI history fans @JAVA and @DibyaXP.
That's not the full list! But I've not been here properly for a few months and you are the ones that stick in my mind the most; I hope the rest of you will excuse me for not listing you, but honestly... it would be quicker for me to list the people I don't like than the people I do 😆
Favourite moments? Any competition is good fun, whether I win or not (not likely, but I've been lucky) doesn't matter, I like to see the entries that people share. The AMAs were very good while they lasted, but this is a missed opportunity and should have been regular with every new senior appointment at HMD and every new phone release, to get the designers to share their favourite things with us and us get to ask some interesting questions (and learn some interesting stuff!).
I can't say that being a super-user is a favourite moment of mine, it has caused me to spend far more time tidying up than I thought I would and I think that's one reason I'm not as motivated to spend more time here. I think I need to stop following all the Android 10 update threads! 😆
What I'd like to see more of:
- Communication communication communication! I know that HMD like all their "personal" communication to from one person (Ju-know who he is 😉) except for on the forum where thankfully @HMDLaura and @dipankar paul are allowed to speak to us. However, I and many others would be more likely to recommend Nokia phones to others if we felt that the technical people actually paid any attention to what we're posting here about the problems we face. Without that kind of communication I'm afraid that I struggle to feel as positive towards HMD as I could do.
- More competitions (GLOBAL ones!), like I said, they're fun 😃
- More AMAs, please try and make these a regular thing.
In general what I'd like to see more of:
- Software recovery tool to avoid need to visit service centre
- Support for bootloader unlocking on all models of phone
- Much better support to the open source/modding community - as I've said before, please try and follow the Sony Open Devices model.
Cheers 🙂

I am happy to see you back /😌😌. Also happy you remembered me😍

Hello everyone,
nice idea to review who has accompanied you in these (almost - I'm with you since December 2018) two years Nokia = Android, at least for me (before that Windows Phone or mobile).
With my Nokia 8 (which still works without any complaints and acts as a backup device) that was/is almost a kind of love-hate relationship - what did we discuss about failed Android updates, missing fingerprints, not working compass and the long promised and never redeemed update of the camera app.A lot of users participated, among others (in alphabetical order without rating 😉):
@abecedario, @jdan, @madbilly, @marsic, @MrBelter, @petrus, @singhnsk, @user389
some of which I would like to mention in particular:
@jdan with a big thank you for his Nokia 8 camera website,
@user389 (Hans) for fruitful discussions about GPS specifications and Danish port villages
and especially warmly
@madbilly, who somehow always was there obliging and nice and helpful and
@MrBelter (John) as "sparring partner" in photography and very nice "link" in UK and chat partner in the lockdown thread.
And last but not least, of course, @HMDLaura, who had to "pull the potatoes out of the fire" for Nokia/HMD again and again and does/did a good job in that 😍

Really happy to complete 2 years in the community.
I got a lot of great and memorable moments from our community. This meant me a lot. I came to get a lot of friends, @nikhilkunwar0904 @Andycool24 @amaljoe @Chethan0210 @Chetanssoni @nokianchetan @Lazysince1995.. and a lot more.
And I really want to thank @HMDLaura @dipankar paul for keeping this family active. Wishing the Nokia community a successful journey and growth ahead.
And a special thanks to @madbilly @singhnsk @nokianchetan @Lazysince1995 for making the community interesting and for making wonderful ideas.

I came to this forum as a proud owner of a shiny new Nokia 8, sadly that failed so i replaced it with a Nokia 8.1 which was at some point handed to my wife to replace the Nokia 8 i had bought her and was going wonky. Sadly the Nokia 8.1 failed in lockdown so we had to move on to pastures new because it was clear it wasn't going to get a repair anytime soon (no ones fault obviously). To my surprise the Nokia 8.1 was replaced with another Nokia 8.1 a few months later and even though it has now become a spare phone i am glad it is back in my possession because despite going though many android phones over the last 10 years the Nokia 8.1 is my favourite phone of the lot, it is the perfect size and the build quality feels just wonderful in the hand.
@martin.fd and @madbilly feel like my long term companions on here thanks to the lockdown thread and it feels a bit like we have been though the wringer together, we have talked about all sorts of cobblers which is good for the soul in these dark and testing times.
@markw49 has the patience of a saint.
@GTR12 is/was funny but seems to have been modded in to oblivion sadly.
@Kartik Gada and @singhnsk seem omnipresent and ever helpful as well so that can only be a good thing.

Hi everyone , congratulations for the guys celebrating the completion of 2 years in Nokia community . I'm a late guy to the community and in due to complete the 2nd year in community.
First of all my special moment is My Beast Nokia 5.1 Plus and every moment I have entered the community is a special one . To be frank all the 80 Agrees, 281 likes and 18 LOLs which I garnered in the meantime had encouraged me to step up to give the best possible answer to the issue which I came accross or if I know the solution for it. And regarding my spams and disagrees that I got sculpted me to an extent.
Thanks @singhnsk for mentioning me in your list of users.
And @madbilly was the first one to encourage me when I started to post my response in this community.
The list will go like a train if everyone wants to give their compliment for the celebration.
And atlast , for me what will be the evenmore special moment is that to push My beast Nokia 5.1 Plus to its end (maybe another 4 to 5 years ), I wish it should bare with me .
Thank you folks 😊

@singhnsk @thanoofnaina @madbilly Thank you for mention guys. I'm glad you remembered even though i was inactive since more than a month.

I'm community member since july 2019 but @nokianchetan introduced me what actually community means in oct 2019 and how to use community for interactions, contests and took me deep how it's actually work. I met @Andycool24 in late 2019 and did Light painting photography with his Nokia 7.2, it was really productive and amazing day for me. In Feb 2020, I was one of winner of 2.3 contest and i was very surprised to see my name in winners list. Thanks to @dipankar paul who actively monitor and execute all the contest on forum. And off curse how I can miss to mention @HMDLaura for selecting me as Super user 🙈. @singhnsk @Kartik Gada @madbilly @thanoofnaina @Chetanssoni @chiraggohil @Ogar parmar @Wanderlust are the die heart fan or community members to must mention here.

Thanks dear for the mention 🙏
