It is because the Google Play System update is 3 months out of date tomorrow, however if you check, there is no new update. Hopefully when the December security update arrives, that will then be updated and back to green as well.

I had the same problem. You have to download the missing update.
You have to download from the phone (It's easier) and install or from a pc and transfer to the phone, and install.

Be aware that Main components contain ONLY TEXT that is shown in UI (not any security updates) See the package name "com.google.android.modulemetadata" (it's only metadata)
It doesn't actually update Play System - it merely changes the displayed DATE to make it look updated. That also explains why it's only 21kb and why it never prompted for a reboot like the actual update does.
