Nokia 3.4 and Nokia 8.3 5G software fix for camera error
Hi there,
Our team of experts has worked fast to issue a software fix for some of our customers who experienced a camera error on the Nokia 3.4, and Nokia 8.3 5G.
You may have already received the update, if not, don’t worry as it will be coming to you shortly – all regions will receive the software fix for the Nokia 3.4 and the Nokia 8.3 5G no later than tomorrow (Friday 8 January), if not sooner.
We will also issue a ‘My Phone’ alert to your phone once the software fix is available in your region. ‘My Phone’ is the official support app for Nokia smartphones, which is available for download on Google Play Store -here- if you don’t already have it. The app offers personal customer support, you can join the Nokia phones community, get app recommendations and explore your phone’s user guide and more.
Steps to follow once you receive your ‘My Phone’ alert:
Option 1: My device is connected to WiFi and I receive automatic updates from Google Play Store as default
- Step 1: You will receive an automatic update
- Step 2: Open camera, and press “menu” which is located in the top left corner of your phone screen
- Step 3: Select “reset settings” at the bottom of the camera settings page to restore the camera to its default settings.
Option 2: My device is not connected to WiFi and I do not receive automatic updates from Google Play Store
- Step 1: Open Google Play Store
- Step 2: Press the “Menu” icon
- Step 3: Select “My apps & games”
- Step 4: ‘Camera’ will appear in the “updates pending” list. You can press “update” from here
- Step 5: Or press “update” in the app page
- Step 6: Open camera, and press “menu” which is located in the top left corner of your phone screen
- Step 7: Select “reset settings” at the bottom of the camera settings page to restore the camera to its default settings.
You can also check for the update when opening the Google Play Store and searching for "HMD Camera". The application will show up with the update. Press the update button and download it.
How to check if the camera software fix has been installed:
Nokia 3.4
- Long press on camera icon then select ‘App info’
- Press ‘Advanced’ then scroll to the bottom of the screen
- Version number displayed at the bottom should read: 97.10.2019.02
Nokia 8.3 5G
- Long press on camera icon then select ‘App info’
- Press ‘Advanced’ then scroll to the bottom of the screen
- Version number displayed at the bottom should read: 97.10.1400.52

Et dire que j'ai ramené le téléphone au magasin et j'ai eu un échange neuf ! Juste à cause de ça mais maintenant j'aurais pu le problème avec cette mise à jour.
Mais d'autres problèmes persistent ! Veuillez prendre les commentaires en compte des acheteurs et qui utilisent ce téléphone Nokia 3.4 !

I've tried option 1 and it does not work for me. The camera crashes one second after opening the app.
May you please think about sending some goodies to us? Like Nokia Earbuds? Just for all the inconveniences we are going through.

I received the notification in the "my phone" app. But the Camera app (named "Photo/Vidéo" in French) does not appear in the list of apps in the Play Store ! It is not updated, still in version 97.10.1400.02 (on a Nokia 3.4).😥

Noch dazu wurde mir am 31.12 noch empfohlen mein Gerät einzuschicken! Sicher nicht wenn es nur ein Software Problem ist!

Hallo, probier bitte den Nachtmodus aus und schau bitte ob bei dir ab jetzt auch nach dem auslösen im Nachtmodus im Auslöseknopf eine Animation läuft, die die Verarbeitung des Fotos zeigen soll.
Wenn das so ist dann wirst du merken das du solange bis diese Animation nicht verschwunden ist in der Kamera-App nicht machen kannst, ist das richtig?

Thanks for the info, unfortunately not working for me either with a nokia 3.4
I got the notification via "My Phone" but no update is possible, in germany via play store or otherwise. Clicking the menu button obviously not possible as that also crashes the camera. Manual date or time fix doesn't work either.
Can you offer any advice when the update will be available in Germany @HMDLaura ? Would be super grateful for any idea. As a side note, as other posters have noted, the camera app doesn't even show up in "my apps" in the play store so I'm not quite sure how the update should come from there?

Hi! Ist bei mir das gleiche in Österreich. Update ,,noch" nicht da, die Info schon. Der Kamera workaround funktioniert schon auf meinem 8.3 nur muss ich 2x schnell hintereinander sobald die Kamera App geöffnet ist auf das Menü Symbol tippen, einmal reicht nicht da stürzt sie gleich ab. Falls du im Menü bist, deaktivieren die Scenen Erkennung und die Apps ist stabil, bis hoffentlich das Update kommt.

No updated came to the Russian store, similar to Nokia 3.4 users, update came for My phone app but no camera in the pending list at all. Still the old version of the app.

Just received camara updated from play store, scene detection can turn on now, camera 97.10.1400.52 .

Camera now working again, thank you. Any news on why the phone won't update yet? Still on original OOWW-1-080 build number and there's at least 2 updates that have been released.... .

UK based user here.....Camera update showing available within play store. Updated app ....cleared cache via settings > Apps & Notification then reset settings via the camera menu and quickly rebooted the phone. Camera working again without any issues. ..........No further main Android / system updates received yet.

I just found the solution to my problem 😀 (Nokia 3.4, Camera App still crashing and not updating and not showing up in Google Play Store, despite the My Phone notification explaining how to update it) :
- in Settings / Apps / open the app "Play Store", and empty the cache and all data
- Open Play Store, open My Apps / It takes a long time because the app is rebuilding the list of all the apps installed on the phone
- Then, 🎵 Tada ! the app "Camera" shows up and it says that the app needs updating ! And it updates it to the new version... and then it works !

Hallo, ja es stimmt, solange die Animation beim Auslöser läuft kann Mann sonst nichts machen.
