Whilst I fully accept there are things with Android that are better than iOS, the entire updates thing is awful.
Whilst I fully accept there are things with Android that are better than iOS, the entire updates thing is awful. I brought the 7.2 as it is Android One thinking it would mean it would receive regular updates and work reasonably. What a joke the A11 update was 10 months late for HMDs own date which was already much later than everyone else, then I find that the selfie camera is now broken with no real promise of a fix.
Speaking to a colleague yesterday, I mentioned this and he just said you mean Android 12 don't you?
So I am done with Android now. My next phone will be Apple, yes there are disadvantages but I have an iPad so am aware of many of them already. At least they are updated frequently and for longer.
If Google ever sorts this out, I may return but until then I am saving for an iPhone.
Their answer is a generic copy/paste. It doesn't mean anything. Or actually it means that they couldn't care less. "..working hard.." means that it may take 12 months or more for them to release another buggy update that eventually causes more trouble and fixes nothing.
I did, after trying all other options. I did factory reset, after first boot I setup device as much as necessary to be able to try the camera, without restoring anything. Still no front camera available
I agree, this is ridiculous. Pixel 6 is also experiencing software - triggered issues. It seems that with current complexity of smartphones Android as an operating system is an absolute mess and it is more and more difficult for devs to get their head around it. I'm afraid IOS isn't that much better in this regard, it's just fewer devices to cover. And then the pain of moving things from Android "ecosystem" to Apple... I'm not sure if I want to go through this. Doesn't seem to be worth the hassle for me. Not yet at least.
Apart from that, what HMD is doing with software updates is a world-leading separate category of the worst software support in the history.
I saw the Android 11 update notification while I was out buying things and when I came back home and checked for update it says you are upto date and updated to Android 10 🙆
Same here. I previously upgraded to A11, but as it did not work, managed to roll back to A10.
Now when I saw the update notification, I thought better wait and see. And now the update is pulled back :D
I must agree with other posters in this forum, it's going to be the last HMD / Nokia phone for sure. I especially bought this because of Android One and expected timely updates...
Next fixed update: january 2023!
we are still waiting to see Android 11 without bugs on our nokia 7.2!
Maybe we thought this Nokia is same as the well-known Nokia, but this is Nokia from China not Finland!
I had the problem with the missing selfie camera, and the incorrect zoom factor for wide-angle mode, after installing the A11 update. (Everything was working perfectly under A10.) I then did a full factory reset, but it didn't fix anything.
As far as I can tell, the camera problems are the only issues after the A11 upgrade - everything else seems to be working fine for me. (But the camera issues are a serious problem for me - I'll give HMD / Nokia a couple of weeks to sort things out and issue a patch - but I'm not too hopeful, based on the last year or so of "support". If the camera isn't fixed soon, I'll be shopping for a new phone - and it won't be a Nokia.)
I wonder if the delivery time for a fix will be shown on the infamous "Android 11 Roadmap"?
Received yesterday a small update. Must be a patch but since tgeb charging issue solved abd device functions better (stability-lag)
Yeah, charging issue is at least fixed now. Thankfully, sooner than I expected haha! Or has it been a quarter already.
Okay, yeah, from Nov to Feb. Then my assumption is kinda accurate. MR only once a quarter. A 2MB of fix needed 3 months just due to the policy of 1 MR every quarter?
Yeah, camera issue is the only one I have found so far, everything else seems working great. Hopefully the patch will arrive very soon.
Hey guys, for the phones where the selfie cam doesn't work, please check the status of the Google Play system. In Germany, only the 7.2s seem to be affected, with Google Play as of January 1st, 2022. All others as of December 1st, 2021 work without errors.
Selfie cam doesn't work in none of the nokia 7.2's, no matter what VERSION OF ANDROID 11 or whatever! You get a useless selfie button that just makes camera app hang. Zoom buttons are other way around, Hdr shots take along time to save if ever saved! And quality wise there's no improvement to dreaded noisy camera images!. I'm sure Nokia knows about this. FYI. I updated in both OTA, and ADB SIDELOAD A FULL ROM. Reset and all that s...t. But play system stays at august 2021, and security patch at 1 Dec 2021, Although Goggle released January security patch and it was automatically installed around 20th Jan 2022. To put it simple they messed up again!
A11 Switzerland without any problems.
Am positively surprised 🥳🥳🥳
In Germany, only the 7.2 versions are affected, where the Google Play system is as of 08/01/21 or 01/01/22. The selfie cam works on phones with google play system from 01.12.21.
In Poland still not Android 11 - we are third world ;).
Sehr seltsam, du bist der Erste mit GP Syst. Stand vom 01.01.22, bei dem die Selfie Cam funktioniert. Lies mal hier, was in Deutschland los ist.
If you mean play services version, I am on Jan 2022 and camera is fine
which variant do you have, 64/4 GB or 128/6 GB?
I wish I could help you but my 7.2 updated to Android 11 without any issues for me and yes the cameras are working fine
دوربین سلفی از کار افتاد😔
After every unlock its showing error message of "face stopped working " like in cases of app crashes.
Setes the face unlock is so ridiculously acting .it can't recognise the saved face.
That was quite surprising from hmd 😁
May be they are trying to resolve the bugs with newer ones...wait for it..😄
My guess is that with next update front camera will be fixed but charging won't work again. And so on and on. Maybe Nokia updates are a glitch in the matrix we're living in 🤔😁
I have been observing these issues on my Nokia 7.2 phone after Android 11 update.
Has there been any solution, software update about these issues?
Two things I've noticed
First, the setting that pops up the "app X is unresponsive" box is too small. This box pops up when the apps are just taking time to start up.
Then there is a massive increase in stuttering on video playback. I had this on 10 with Amazon, now have it on Disney. After about 45 minutes of hd playback it is unwatchable. And then even simple scrolling in a browser suffers.
A restart fixes. It is as if some memory buffer or temp space is getting filled, but not cleared properly.
