Nokia 1.3 vs Nokia 1 Plus - is 1.3 a downgrade compared to 1 plus?

I kinda like these entry level phones because I think Android Go is an interesting concept and well... less is more. :)

Nokia 1.3 is kinda interesting concept but what confuses me is that is this actually a downgrade compared to Nokia 1 Plus which was released early 2019? I mean, this has bigger screen but the size is still bearable (I really don't get over 6" screens... makes the devices annoyingly big most of the time) making the phone dimensions also quite compact. Also this has 8gb more storage than Nokia 1 plus and probably better camera software what I have understood? I also like the removable battery (they should exist in most of the phones!). But the chipset.... isn't this QM215 actually worse than the MT6739? I actually have a Nokia 1 plus and it wasn't that good when I bought it but the updates made the phone bit smoother and it has been quite ok since. But if Nokia 1.3 is slower, then it might start to get a bit annoying...

Out of topic but... if Nokia 2.3 would have had 5,71" screen I would have bought it already. And then.... Nokia released 2.4 and I was like "maybe this one!". Well, it has 6,5" screen and the device is basically a "phablet". Again, with 5,5"ish screen, I would have bought it immediately.

  • HMD/Nokia don't actually understand what an upgrade is sometimes... I too am not a fan of anything over 6" screen size as I consider it too big for my small soft palms. I use the Nokia 3.1 Plus and would have loved to upgrade it to the Nokia 3.2 but the 3.2 didn't feel like an upgrade in any aspect so I kept using my 3.1 Plus.

But now that they released a buggy OS update for my device and yet to fix it makes me consider their loyalty to 3.* device owners and I'm going to be moving to another brand.

I would have loved Samsung devices but their midrangers are just above the 6" screen size.

  • The hardware is almost the same, but the software is the main selling point, I think, anyways, camera go will bring night mode at a low level, so it can't be that bad......

I think that the Nokia 1.3 has a higher resolution screen will make it slower.
