I have recently purchased nokia 6.1
The problem is that whenever i open the camera app or any other app which uses camera like Instagram, Whats app etc etc my phone immediately hangs!!!
Also if by restarting my cam app several times when i try to take pic the phone hangs! and some times even the power button does not work!
This problem is annoying me and ruining my experience with this phone! has any one faced any similar problem??

Happens on my Nokia 6.1 (TA-1045) too.
This is an extremely well known bug here in the community, but no word on it. I assumed maybe this was caused by my third party camera app, so I uninstalled it, but the issue persists. Just keep bugging them through the support app and we'll hopefully get a fix soon.
Already updated to the May update? Several bugs are solved in this version.
the camera is much smoother now after the may update, but still occasionally hangs. most of the problem seems to be around taking pictures before focusing is complete. secondly, third party apps are better with vamera usage too, but still a little sluggish
Me too have same issues with the camera.
Device was hanging and crashed the phone app, finally I factory reset, later the device is not accepting the SD Card.
Unable to use SD card saving photos and videos.
I am really starting to dislike this phone, and wished i didn't change my mind over the motorola G6
"Just now i've got an error "system ui not responding". I think the
camera was the cause of this error. The cam was starting up very slowly,
then took about 2sec to load google fotos (on the bottum right), and
then the camera was unrespnsive for about 2-3 sec. Finally i was able
to take a picture and once again it about 2 sec the photo to be
processed."
can confirm the exact same thing happened to me yesterday
"Try running the device in safe mode, if no issues,3rd party app is the culprit." ok here's my problem with this, yes it does run fine in safe mode, but a) we dont know if there is something else that safe mode does that is the reason that is the case b) even when all third party apps are closed, the camera still has these problems, is it a background task? is the solution uninstalling instagram/whatsapp, etc whatever is supposedly causing it? this is a nokia software problem, since this is not the case with any other phone i've used. i have another phone, with the exact same apps, but this does not crop up.
And it's still hanging.
I made a mistake by buying Nokia, I repent.
"I assumed maybe this was caused by my third party camera app, so I
uninstalled it, but the issue persists. Just keep bugging them through
the support app and we'll hopefully get a fix soon." also this backs that up
I chatted with the German support today and I sent them the links to
the nokia forum posts. I was told that the problem is known and due to
the software and furthermore the technicians are working on it
(priority). The support hopes that the problem will be resolved with the
next update.
Further, "As a temporary solution, we can advise you to turn off 4G and location and hopefully these steps will be resolved until the solution is distributed by our development department." (translated from German)
Then I deactivated the "Location" permisson in the camera app. We will see.
Hope, that Nokia will fix this software bug soon.

Thank you for sharing this information.
So the July update is apparently just a security patch. I guess
we're waiting longer, or there is no fix planned, either way,
disappointed, even if we do have a temp solution (which also doesn't
always work)
Remove Location from camera permission in app settings.
Keep the network to 3G mode.
I had all nexus models from the first one, till the expensive pixel ones came out. And now when this momentum building up with " who will make the cheapest and best stock midrange " you screw it up in gargantuan proportions. Yes i have a mi a1 also so I have reference. It's completely understandable that SD scaled down some processors to fool the cheap and google forgot to scale down android for who knows what reason. But dude the only app made by you on this phone is failing miserably, yes the camera. You have that huge chunk of aluminum in the phone yet i see heat warning popups wtf.
Battery is draining faster than on my two year old nexus 5x. Trust me I know what I have and what apps I install on my phones so no drain because of that. Gboard is freezing and lagging on unusable levels. You cannot disable non english keyboards and they run in the background. And these are only some of the major issues. I bought this phone to show support for an old friend, a company from my childhood ... Just my two cents before a blind fanboy jumps in and paints the problems mentioned above to pink.
I spent more than 2 hours to go for Huawei or Nokia. For the sake of old memories of trust with Nokia I bought tjos junk reactor phone.
Not sure if that info will help anyone else out but I found it worked for me.
Guys, just turn off geolocating in the camera app and it won't hang
Another known problem is fake or poor quality microSD cards where you have camera set to save to the microSD.
There are so many fake microSD cards around you have to make sure you buy from a known genuine supplier.
With the complexity of software today, there are always going to be unexpected bugs.
Sama problem here, sometimes I have to close all other apps to open again camera and then it works, it horrible. It also hangs from time to time looking at some other applications and I'm forced to reboot the phone with keys to exit the stoped status.... bad supportm really bad
This is probably due to poor memory management of the phone. I don't know what cause is, but i know how to reliably reproduce the issue.
You can download MemoryPump or similar memory filler application.
I run it on: Google Pixel 2, Samasung S4 mini, Huawei P9 lite. When I press "allocate all memory" all of them just simply shut down this application.
BUT Nokia 6.1 becomes completely unresponsive and reboots after couple of minutes. Please verify if your phones do the same.
