Update cannot be installed0

Oh, News by HMD. Sorry, this doesn''t help your. I could install the update without problems. From here is it difficult to say, what the problem of your Nokia 8 is. I' m afraid, that, when restarting the the update is not possible, you must take a Reset of your phone. Or, yo must wait on the next uptade.0

First time after the purchase of Nokia 8, I didn't receive the regular monthly update. Still in December update. Android 9, this update seems so far to come here in India.
Nokia 8 still great for daily usage in android 8.

After the latest update in Nokia 6.1 plus I am not able to minimise and reuse the app. If I am minimising any app not able to start it from minimised option as it is empty and need to start again from main menu. Anyone facing the same issue ?0
-
I'm not sure if it's just random fluke or real, but to me it has seemed that the issue I had with the Pie beta version about some applications getting killed very aggressively in the background seems to have gone after installing the January security patch.
As an example, JuiceSSH tended to die within a few dozens of minutes and a couple of hours after updating to Pie beta. Even the trick with force stopping and disabling the additional Evenwell battery saver service did not make a significant difference. However, now JuiceSSH has been up and running for almost 16 hours.
Anyone else seeing something like this?0 -
I'm on Nokia 8 TA-1012 reverted from beta to 8.1. I'm still on december security patch. Phone says no updates available. I'm tired of Nokias lies. In near figurę I'm switching to other brand with constant support for their phones.1

Here we can (finally) find what January updates our Nokia 8's received (if they did!):
https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/security-updates
There seem to be only two possibilities anc both of them are only security updates!
00WW_4_88B_SP08 (Oreo 8.1)
00WW_5_110_SP01 (Pie)
Some people in this discussion say Pie beta - but that is confusing, as some of you may first have received a real PIe beta through Beta Labs. So, if you have received the January security patch you are on the official Nokia 8 Pie.
Correct me if I am wrong. You can find your version in:
Settings > System > About phone > Build number (at the bottom)

Das stimmt nicht so. Ich HABE (nur) die Beta-Version auf meinem Nokia 8, mein Smartphone ist auch mit dem Januar-Security-Patch (TA-1012, Deutschland) eingetroffen.1
-
@jdan I've seen at least one user saying that, while on beta labs pie, received the January security patch and nothing changed, he/she still had the feedback app. That's not promising at all, are there any other users on beta labs pie with the January patch applied to confirm/disagree?Edit: also here's a Google translation of the German comment above:That's not right. I have (only) the beta version on my Nokia 8, my smartphone has also arrived with the January security patch (TA-1012, Germany).

I suspect that the ones that still have the feedback app are on the same build as the others like me on official Nokia Pie. And you prove my point by writing that you have 00WW_5_110_SP01 in:user1508938037450 said:Das stimmt nicht so. Yes, I reverted to Oreo during the beta labs and got their so called "official" pie release.0

The Beta-Version and the "final" Version of Pie is the same. I didn't roll back to 8.1. The onliest difference betweeen both versions IS the Feedback-App. The problems are the same, too.
And, I don't believe, that HMD will roll out a better Version of Pie for our 8's. It is for HMD an old Smartphones. They are interested in on her "new" Android One-
"flagships". We will see, how her Nokia 9 will work. I'm afraid, the problems will be the same. Perfectly camera-hardware, terrible firmware (developed by HMD).
That, what HMD does isn't to understand. 😒1 -
We can also hope that HMD Global keeps on working on the software for Nokia 8.
When Nokia 7 was launched in september 2007 the first camera tests revealed that the photographs were of excellent quality in good light circumstances. In low light situations the camera was not at par with flagship phones. A good example of such a review is :
https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/reviews/nokia-8-review-1763837
Nokia tried to do something about it but things didn’t work out according to plan. End of June 2018: the Pro camera was said to come to Nokia 8 but the first attempt was withdrawn due to all sorts of bugs and it only came to consumers in September 2018.
https://nokiapoweruser.com/nokia-8-camera-app-loses-pro-bokeh-mode-after-update-update-pulled-from-store/Reviews with the new camera app, however, are hard to find, if there are any! And Nokia didn't inform its consumers on how to use the camera.
I bought my Nokia 8 in September 2018. !Look on my website to know why I chose this particular smartphone.) So, I immediately got Android 8.1 and a better camera app and yes I had confidence that Nokia was still working on the Nokia 8.
HMD Global had already promised at the end of August to update this camera app again together with Pie, but when in December Nokia released Pie for Nokia 8 there was no update of the camera. Unfortunately, there has been no communicaton about why the app wasn't updated nor when it will be.
https://www.androidauthority.com/nokia-8-camera-arcore-pie-update-903308/As seen in my other posts I have tried to make a manual for the stock camera to get the most out of the camera app as it is today. Today I have worked half a day on making an English version (I am a retired teacher of English). Others have worked hard on making sure gcam can be used on Nokia 8. Nice efforts by ordinary customers who try to help other customers.

Of course I do agree that there are quite a lot of problems to work on like the compass bug but we can also hope that HMD Global keeps on working on Nokia 8 - like they have done so far. See this page: https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/security-updates
As you can see in my comments I have been busy the last few days on the standard camera app.
The first camera tests revealed that the photographs were of excellent quality in good light circumstances. In low light situations the camera was not at par with flagship phones. A good example of such a review is https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/reviews/nokia-8-review-1763837

Today I have worked half a day to translate my manual in English so that even more people can easily read it (I am a retired teacher of English). Other people have been working hard om making sure that gcam can be used on Nokia 8 (like on many other brands). Nice efforts of volunteers around the world to give Nokia 8 owners a good experience.
