Is there is any problems by updating on this way for pie? Can we downgrade for oreo after updating for pie in this way?

I flashed manually few weeks back,No problems yet . It's possible to roll back to Oreo. But it's bit risky I think.all your data will be wiped and u need to install monthly security updates mannualy from October onwards ( as I saw a thread regarding this in xda forum).

Ohh thanks for the information, its better to wait for official update, thank you again
  • I am from India, where we hadn't received Pie OTA. I installed Pie manually, only to discover that Google maps wasn't working all that good. So I manually downgraded back to Oreo, and am quite happy with the way things are. I suppose HMD is ironing out all the wrinkles from the Pie after receiving so many complaints. I will wait for the OTA...

Does it makes any warranty violation, or does this mean my device is rooted?

@imchandu03 I'm not sure it's so easy to rollback to Oreo after manual installation (if possible at all), I remember reading from an Indian gentleman that he struggled quite a lot to rollback!
  • Thanks for the information in deatilmanner  and I insat but I am really disappointed about the no new features/improvement in camera battery and UI as well.. :/

I don't think it's difficult to update 8 to Pie because Nokia just announced pie for 5.1plus and 3.1 plus .I think the initial reports about them delaying it to increase 8.1 sales is true and they only care about money

Change the file name according to instructions
  • Does any one know how to roll back to official oreo
  • @RaveVII You CAN buy the Nokia 8.1 in Germany. Also, THAT can't be the problem for introduction of a "good" Android Pie for our Nokia 8.
