Hello Guys,
I have found interim relief for the battery drain issue after Android Pie update on Nokia 5 (hope this will also work on other phones like Nokia 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 and 8).
Things need to be done to check if it workouts for you:
1. Switch on battery Saver always(don't worry further setting told below will allow apps to run fine).
2. Turn off adaptive battery/brightness.
3. Tap 5 times on Build number in Setting(Settings> System > About Phone> build number) and turn on Developer mode.
4. come to Developer options (in Settings> System )search through all the option and let them all be set to off, the Background process limit and Don't keep activity are set to "Standard" and"off" respectively by default please don't change this....its Very important.
5. I also set the Window animation/Transition animation/Animator duration scale to "off" which drastically improved and eliminated few lags in notification bar/lock screen which I was randomly facing.
6. Lastly Give a REBOOT to device.
Doing all this my battery backup is same as on Oreo 8.1 on my Nokia 5, hope this will also work for you guys. Give a try

Don't worry nothing will be affected as all other Dev options are disabled. I must say, we luckily found this....Anyway Battery is working as in Oreo..
..so Cheer
This developer options setting really works great and I am getting way better battery's life now, even better than Oreo time.
But, this afternoon I update the carrier networking apps on play store and it has been great again!
Do checked this out if u r still facing battery fast draining issues.
Now I am free from the problem even not on battery saver mode!
Pie camera apps also improve alot! It really feel like a new phone after pie., Smoother and also not feel lagging anymore.
God knows what will happen with our phones!!!
NOKIA waiting for Feb patch to clear all this mess...pls
This model has already two years
Specifically, after Pie update, charge phone to 100% in the evening, leave on standby over night (with WiFi and mobile data switched off), next morning battery was at 94%. Before Pie, phone would typically still show 100% battery the following morning.
After making the suggested changes, my phone was behaving as before Pie update, ie. battery still at 100% the following morning after full charge. - Hooray!
1.. after going in develepor mode in developer option do i have to urn off everything manually or there is an on off button in the top which turns off everything altogather
2..hows should i reboot the device, is it the first option in the recovery mode which says reboot system
(which i tried but nothing happened) or is it the hard reset or factory reset .
3..how do i know that i have done it successfully .do i still get that msg tht you are already a developer when i press built number or will that go back to like it was.
plz guide e asap and let me know if there are any important things i should look at first before doing anythng.
1. I turned off each option manually. Most were set to OFF anyway, but I did find that "Mobile data always active" was set ON, so I switched that OFF, particularly as I normally have mobile data switched off unless I specifically need it.
2. To reboot my device, I just press and hold the power button. You should see 3 buttons appear on screen near the power button: "Power off", "Restart" and "Screenshot". Press "Restart".
3. On my phone, the "{} Developer options" are still available, though at the top of the page, there is an on/off toggle button, so I guess they could be switched off if you like.
Go head and check if update avail for you.....
