Camera Nokia 8

Camera crashes: I occasionally get this happening and it seems to coincide with my SD card locking up and becoming write-protected (it can still be read). However, I have begun to doubt it since so many crashes are being reported on the 9 PureView which doesn't have an SD card, and this description on XDA (skip to ~8:00 minutes) sounds very similar to my situation:

What are everyone else's experiences?Cheers2 -
Thanks for that @madbilly. I never put photos or video straight to my SD card - mainly because my card isn't fast enough - and so have had no significant camera-crashing.2
-
And I haven't problems by using my SD-card for fotos and viedeos. No crash. Here works my Nokia 8 correct without problems.0

If I blow sharply into each microphone, then there are no clicking sounds in the audiorecorded immediately afterwards. If I blow into the top mics only, then the click at th e very beginning of the video still remains.1
-
I think the OZO algorithm simply hates silence. None of the music footage I have ever recorded has clicks.0

@madbilly
I wanna disaggre with you in matters of camera hardware.
Nokia 8 has one of the best ISP thanks to Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 .
Secondary monochrome sensor can gather 3 times more luman than colour one . With proper algorithm it can beat **** out of single 1.4um sensor in 8 Sirroco.
You got ois on main sensor under low light you can easily use 4 sec of exposure without any issues. Combine that monochrome sensor . It will destroy any single main camera setup on the Earth unless humans make 2.1um sensors.
Add that laser autofocus as cherry on top , it can easily fix focusing issues we are facing.
Camera app from Nokia 7.1 performs better on Nokia 8 than on Nokia 7.1 it could have been better if it utilizes the monochrome sensor on Nokia .
It might be a 1.12 um sensor but back illuminated sensor from Sony not non illuminated sensor from Samsung.
Nokia 7 plus has similar spec Samsung sensor like Sony imx363 on Nokia 8.1. why performance difference is so high even with gcam which doesn't make use of spectra isp rather use software filter rather isp filter so it proves my point even experts will say same .
HMd is worried if Nokia 8 performs so well no one will buy their new phone .
Are those guys of Zeiss jokingly chosen 2 imx258 on Nokia 8 ? Obviously not as price of two imx258 is higher than one imx377 or imx352.
One problem with us is to blame @juho in everything but he has no hand in decision.
CEO and CMO gives him a budget to make a phone with in it. I am wondering how much profit is actually is spent on software development .
I am seriously worried.
In conclusion I can say Nokia 8 can beat Nokia 8 Sirroco with proper algorithm.
People are complaining same issues like we Nokia 8 users did because handaling monochrome is not a a easy thing to do obviously. Merging two or more similar image is very complex and resource intensive .
One other problem is that HMd loves to use in-house camera algorithm where Samsung and huwei uses algorithm from Almalence and Arcsoft

The problem of constant refocusing still remains, spoiling the footage, so I am not using the video too much.0 -
I have just installed the camera app foot my Zhiyun gimbal and it uses all three mics at once. They click slightly. The OZO algorithm doesn't kick in until the photo app opens. I use all sorts of apps for sound and video and have no reason to believe the mics are not doing their job. The resulting sound depends on the software using the mics. Or am I mistaken.0

DibyaXP said:HMd is worried if Nokia 8 performs so well no one will buy their new phone .Nokia 9 (so called PureView) has 5 sensors, 3 of them monochrome, and its low light photos are even worse than those of Nokia 8. Nokia 9 lacks both OIS and proper algorithms, so Nokia 8 can absolutely thrash it with any Gcam port. And let's not forget Nokia 9's extremely shaky 4K video because of lack of any stabilization. Here are couple of reviews:
So, it's not about HMD not wanting to develop proper imaging algorithms. They are simply incompetent to do it because even their new "PureView" flagship is a failure (unless all you want do with it is shoot photos on a bright, sunny day and some bokeh).

This reviewer is a friend with Sarvikas. Surprise?1

@DibyaXP That's a very good detailed post. Only one problem - I don't know why you're disagreeing with me!
I honestly cannot remember posting anything about these topics where I've written something you can actually disagree with based on what you've written.... I really am confused.
Anyway, thanks for joining in the debate2 -
Okay. A very critical review of more than 20 minutes. The cons - skip to minute 13:45 Interesting info on low light photos included ... Don't forget the pros - starting off on minute 17:10 - including interesting advice on who will be glad about this phone and who will be disappointed. Photo samples on Flickr - you find the link underneath the video on YouTube.

Juho gives an opinion on the Nokia 9 issues. What does this remind you?
I prefer to stay with Nokia 8.

Poor Juho. His greedy CEO doesn't want to shell out money to hire imaging experts, so what's Juho going to do? He decides to make a gimmicky phone with last year's SoC and 5 camera sensors lacking OIS (one of key PureView components), which is great for shooting daylight photos and bokeh but sucks big time at everything else. CEO also doesn't like to hire regular software developers, so Nokia 9 is released with bunch of bugs which are going to make buyers mad for months and maybe even years to come.

The "9" ist only the Nokia 8, the "SECOND". The same (camera-) problemlos, the same terrible service and, I'm afraid, the same future. MANY WORDS, NO RESULTS, PERMANENT PROBLEMS, SLOWLY "REPAIR-UPDATES" (or no updates). 😒 Poor HMD. 😪3

Nokia 8 has better than any nokia phone but worst software of all2

@potemkin you were probably being a bit sarcastic but I think you're right - the CPO has a limited budget, granted to that department by the CEO. The board of directors also have to share some responsibility - win as a team, lose as a team, that's the rule.Your comment about last year's SoC isn't fair though - the phone started development before 855 was available. They already delayed it (if released last year it would probably have been even worse quality) and if they'd changed to 855 it would have been delayed even more and would probably have had all the same problems (even the processing delay, as I don't think the upgrade in SoC would have made a big difference to this). I'm glad we have it now, rather than wait for perfection (which will never happen anyway).Anyway, that's another phone, let's get back on topic of the phone we actually have - the 82
-
@madbilly Yeah, we're off topic but I gotta say this. Nobody forced Juho and co. to release Nokia 9 and market it as a ultimate camera phone NOW when they don't have proper low light imaging algorithms and when their phone is according to all reviews under-powered for all that image processing, and surely nobody forced them to remove OIS, tarnishing a PureView name. Low and mid-range phones are obviously HMD's bread and butter but I guess they feel like they need to release some kind of phone which will create media buzz. Problem is, they're doing it in a completely wrong way and all they will achieve is people losing trust in them.

I have ended up unfollowing Juho Sarvikas on Twitter (not that it will bother him lol) i have grown tired of the endless positivity towards new products while appearing to sweep anything under the carpet that doesn't show Nokia or HMD is anything other than a shining beacon of goodness. The Nokia 8 is now an old but still capable device so i can understand why the spotlight isn't on it any more but if you read all the tweets people are having problems even with the newer devices and it never gets addressed just ignored and i find it hard to have respect for someone that does not take with the rough with the smooth.5
