The fix was factory reset and no restore of phone settings. I hope will work for you also.
no more 'no service' and bluetooth music streams fluid.
before it stutterd

Hello, unfortunately, today the issue is back. I have restarted the phone while connected to the sync system. When the phone connected back, I instantly got the no phone service on the sync screen.0

Hi all. Anyone have tryed this: Change the SIM to slot 2 of the phone.. seems a bug from android. i Will try more late, but i found this solution on https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/203269/-signal-strength-bug-with-my-stereos-car 0
-
Thanks Ruramos, i have tested that slot2 some days, and seems, to work for me. Is there any matter is sim slot 1 or 2 (less features etc.?)0
-
Thanks also Ruramos. Changing the SIM to slot 2 has had several beneficial effects. First after being in a no service zone and returning to a service area the phone shows a signal again. Second I noticed it does not go into no service all the time like when in slot 1. I think in slot 1 it drops to no service state each time the cell site changes, but in slot 2 this does not seem to happen.

Sounds good. I'll try this also. Only disadvantage is the external memory I have in slot 2. If this is the solution, I hope HMD can/will fix this finally.0
-
Yep, finally. The solution.
. I tested several occasions. All reconnected after cell signal losses. So HMD/NOKIA, work to do!

Same thing happens with my Peugeot. After a few minutes, the signal strength disappears and "No Service" pops up on the dashboard. What's more interesting is that I had the exact same problem with my OnePlus 5, and at the time I thought the problem was specific to that device. When I bought the 8.1 and saw the same behavior, I thought it may be a problem with Android 9. But, strangely, my old Nexus 5X, also on Android 9, doesn't exhibit this behavior. It just works as it should. Now, what do the OnePlus 5 and the Nokia 8.1 have in common that the 5X doesn't? They're both dual-SIM phones.
It would seem that if the second SIM slot is empty, Android falsely sends an update to the car telling it there's no service. This probably has more to do with the way the dual-SIM functionality is implemented than with Android itself.
Edit: Hadn't seen the second page when I posted this, I'll switch to 2nd slot and report back!0 -
I had a little hope that this would have been fixed in Maintenance Release 3.51F. Unfortunately not. I placed the SIM in back in slot 1 again, the problem showed up immediately. I contacted Nokia Support and was told this issue should be forward to the developers.......
For now, SIM in slot 2 and SD memory card 'in storage' until Nokia/Google solve this bug.

Disappointed again. Not fixed in/with the April patch0

Same story by me, Ford Fiesta 1.1 and Brand new Nokia 7+, connected ok, after about 5 min the signal strength goes to nothing. I could receive calls but when dialed up the car display says no service. But the call came through. The solution: (i restored all from samsung S8 before ) 1 Hard reset configured everything from scratch (new phone) now its working. Something in config from my old phone corrupted my bluetooth.0

Hello all,
Since my last post, I have sent the device three times to care center. Last time they swapped it. As happy I was having a new phone, hoping the issue would be history, as far the disappointment went to see the signal bars drop at the first synchronisation with the car kit. Without knowing of the second SIM slot suggestion you wrote here, I have tried it myself and can confirm it works fine for the last 3 days. Before this, I have also swapped the SIM card with the carrier.
Maybe they'll fix it on the new Android 10.
I came here to share you he fix and I am glad to see it works for you also.

This sounds like almost the exact issue I'm having with my 6.1 plus dual SIM, except in my case, as soon as the phone connects to my GM Holden Commodore, the signal drops to zero and bluetooth is rendered useless. I use an SD card so using slot 2 is out. This is obviously a known issue, and has been for some time.0

Since Android 8.1 I reported this to Nokia support. Last time 1 week ago, refering to this community. One time they said it would be forwarded to the developers, another time they said to change the Bluetooth version. It's not a setting to be changed, it's a developer thing.
I pointed them to the slot 2 workaround, so it would be easy to reproduce.
I lost faith in this support department. No Nokia next time.1 -
I agree maxh, this was an issue for me for a long time. I don't so much blame Nokia as the Android system. This issue is clearly more widespread than just Nokia, so then who fixes the problem? Google or the phone manufacturer? The result is the user is left having to work around issues. I had (i guess naively) thought Android one would have bug fixes as well as just security updates, but that does not seem to happen. I have moved on and no longer use my Nokia phone. I will probably sell it when I get the chance.

I also forwarded the issue to Nokia support and the developer team when it became apparent to me back in January, after my phone updated to Pie and everything broke.
I've uploaded a video of the issue outlined here to Youtube, so Nokia/Google can't sweep it under the rug.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI-aTzC1lM0
I've also seen it affect other OEMs, like OnePlus, Samsung, Essential, Xiaomi etc...0 -
So I finally got this fixed on my Mercedes GLE.
First, go to Settings > SYSTEM go to "About Device" > Tap several times in "Build number" until you become a developer. Return to the system menu tap in advanced and go to developers options.
Toggle on "Show Bluetooth devices without names" > "Bluetooth AVRCP Version" > Change to 1.5 or 1.6> Then hold the Power Button + Button Volume UP for 10 seconds until your phone will switch OFF - release the keys. Once completed you can re-pair the phone and it works like a champ.

Didn't solve my issue. Also last Maintenance Release didn't have a fix. Probably we have to wait until Android Q. The only workaround is to place the SIM card in slot 2 and store the SD memory card for better times. Shame on you HMD!!0
-
Careful positive since update 3.54H. I think the problem finally solved. I have the SIM card in slot 1 and the SD card in slot 2. No cel service issues so far.0

Cheered too early. Same issue grrrrrr

Since my last comment in spring, my phone was changed by employer from Nokia 8 to Nokia 8.1, but there was present exact same problem until last week when Android updated from 9 to 10. After update i tested change sim from slot 2 to slot 1 and tadaa, finally HMD seems to fix this bug. It didn't take much more than a year.0
-
I hope you're right. I expected the same from Android 8.1 to 9. Didn't solve the problem that time. Fingers crossed.0
