I have returned to Nokia after ages! All the way from Nokia 3300 to Nokia Lumias and finally now Nokia 8. Phone is brilliant and absolute value for money.
I just noticed, while in the "Twin" camera mode the "Monochrome" lens is (maybe) not being used. And this is how I came to this conclusion: While is "Twin Camera" mode I closed the RGB lens with a finger and the whole screen goes blank. While I close the "Monochrome Lens" the screen still shows everything in color! Please note when in Monochrome mode and I close the Monochrome lens with my finger, the screen goes blank. This means the Monochrome lens is working, but only in the Monochrome mode and not in the Twin mode.
Is it only me or have anyone of you noticed this?
Maybe Nokia is doing this on purpose?
Or is my phone faulty?
Would appreciate your feedback and comments.
Thanks very much.
I doubt it's a hardware defect.
Just tested it on mine and it's the same thing.
Maybe the monochrome lens only activates when taking a picture, letting more light in?
Well this is more of a discussion forum for customers, i rarely see any mods here.
I think it's best to ask your question through the support application or here : https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/support#contact-us
Anyway, this is certainly an interesting topic.
I'm curious to see how they will manage the camera hardware with the upcoming Pro Camera app.
You have to understand that the monochrome sensor enhances the colour and doesnt take seperate images, so if you cover the rgb sensor, thats all the image will come out as, as a covered rgb sensor.
I have turned the monochrome sensor off anyway, it seem to just make matters worse.
The monochrome camera is used to add sharpness to pictures.
