Nokia N8

I've just bought an old favourite off ebay and it's come with the original o/'s PR1. 1, swv 013.016 and it's basically a brick. So before it goes back, can any of you smart people out there tell me if it is possible to update to Symbian Belle so I can at least get some functionality out of it as obviously everything is no more support wise sadly.

Nokia N8 is 3 years obsolete also when updated to the last Belle Refresh OS. Availability depend of the phone product code. The official way is the Nokia Software Recovery Tool, now provided by Microsoft's support affiliate B2X:

Some more commitment is required to update and supplement the root CA's from traud.de/ta in the phone browser and make the phone work with https websites and mail, to find apps from various sources etc.

Microsoft Answers is the proper forum for legacy Nokia phones:

Please use the search feature (magnifying glass in the top bar) and the filters in MS Answers, all possible questions has been answered already.

You should keep the phone for its basic phone qualities and its camera, it is not a modern smartphone.
I hope you get it sorted out.

Great answer!
It worked like a charm and was exactly what I was after. Many thanks for your knowledgeable help Hans. My apologies for not replying until now. I have got it for the camera mainly as its so good it's worth keeping just for that. Mind, what a difference in quality there is between Nokia products and "others" and I'm glad they're back in the phone game and I look forward to getting an 8.
